Re: Road to Vedanthangal?

Went to Vedanthangal yesterday from Chennai. Took the airport road from Guindy. Started around 1 and it was a very pleasant drive. We enjoyed the overall experience. Birds visit this lake during Nov-Mar.

One small correction to the below tip, the first sign board appears around 20+ kms after the Chengalpet Toll. So don't sweat if you did not see the sign boards after 12 KMs The first one appeared soon after we crossed a junction and I thought I missed the road!! But don't be fooled by it. All you need to do is to take the next road, after the first sign board.
After that, it is around 14Kms from the NH45.

Please remember to take binoculars with you. Even a toy one will do wonders to the overall experience. Sit down on the benches and drink the atmosphere and you will be able to identify many more birds than you do in the first glance. Only draw back being lack of good restaurants on the way back.

So my advice
- take a binocular with you
- plan for a total 4-5 hours outing

Enjoy! though you will need very good binoculars to see the birds up close.
