Avoid peak hours, 08:00 AM to 11:00 AM & 05:30 PM to 09:00 PM. Adhere to these times especially on weekends as there is a mad rush to get out and get into Mumbai for weekend travellers.

Reason: Kashimira flyover near Mira Road is under-construction. Only 1-1/2 makeshift lanes are open for traffic, and even these are not entirely tar stretches.

When I went for my car's PRI inspection, the traffic was at a stand-still right from Kashimira upto National Park flyover. I spent a good 90 minutes on that 3-4 Kms stretch.

If your destination is anywhere near or south of Bandra, use the Eastern Express Highway instead.

Yes, I agree. The jams at Kashimira are awful and enough to set you back by at least 30-45 minutes. However, those wanting to go north before Bandra hardly have any better choices since the jams at Powai are equally bad even though road widening work is almost complete.
