Advice on bus travel (Pune /Bangalore /Trivandrum)

I've been asked to travel to pune at somewhat short notice . Planning to reach on 29th, leave on 31st.
The train tickets seem to be sold out, and I'm too cheap to travel by air

Travelling by bus seems to be a feasible alternative. I'm planning it in two legs. Tvm - B'lore, and B'lore to pune.
after looking at redbus, it seems doable. Are VRL/Sharma reliable? How much time should I leave in between ( in case the first bus is late, esp the pun-blr one).

Any other advice/suggestions/alternatives?

@greenhorn. There are a lot of buses leaving in the evening from bangalore and reaching Pune in the late mornings 10:00 ish. Konduskar, VRL, Sharma, National are all good. My MIL travels with Konduskar & Sharma sometimes. Good service and 9 out of ten times on time. Please lemme know if you want me to book for you. Or you can do it on konduskarsr.com. CIAO!

You can also book your tickets online with KSRTC, at ::K.S.R.T.C::. You even get a discount of 10% on the base fare of your return ticket if you book a round trip.

VRL has very good services betweeen Bangalore and Pune. KaSRTC services are also frequent, starting from around 2:30pm. KaSRTC takes around 15:30hrs where as VRL takes around 17hrs for the trip.
