Drive to Jaipur

Hi Members,

I was looking to go to Jaipur over the weekend and am planning to drive down. I have a Zen Estilo which can be used for the drive. Alternately, I can rent a car from Avis/ hertz which will cost me about Rs 9k plus fuel. Request opinions.

No better thing than drive your own car down. Nice drive despite the heavy traffic and the messiness of road widening.

Just a word of caution on NH8, the route as HVK sir mentioned is in an absolute mess. I did Delhi-Jaipur 3 days back and it took me 8 hrs to cover those 265kms. Total Madness!!

Your timing should be very important. I suggest that you try to leave Delhi as early as possible in the morning. Same when you leave back for Delhi, Leave as early as possible from Jaipur.

As for getting your own car or renting one, Thats your own decision!!!

Its cheaper to drive your own car than renting; 'cause you land up paying more for the rent+fuel expense where in you only land up paying the fuel expense on your own car. If you've more people & less space in the car (4/5+) then you may consider other options.

Two Suggestions:

1. Drive your own car.
2. Leave as early as possible in mornings.

With the kind of traffic on NH8 between DEL-JPR, you would find it to be more of city drive than an actual highway drive.
Maybe this helps you in getting the right expectation in terms of time it would take and also, that you can drive personal car.
And yes, try to leave as early as you can from Delhi to avoid the vacation/weekend traffic (assuming you would be travelling on weekend/vacation).

On the way to jaipur from delhi do lookout for "Sharma dhaba".
Saw the place in a TV show and the food (particularly a kind of roti made with loads of butter and sugar) looked mouth watering..

They said even filmstars like Bachan and Rai visit the place.

If at all you visit the dhaba do give your feedback. I'm planning a visit of delhi-agra-jaipur soon.
