There are no issues with this route. Route is proper all the way till Byndoor from Bangalore. Just after reaching Byndoor I will be stuck with lot of truck traffic and road construction till Shirali.

"Shivamoga - Thirthahalli - Hulikal - Traci - Maravanthe - Uppunda - Baindur".

Any particular reason for the detout through Agumbe?

Shimoga-Ayannur-Ripponpete-Hosanagara-Nagara-Hullikal-Ampar-Kundapur-Baindoor.

There are some bad bits on Hulikal. But traffic is low. Start early to go past Hulikal during day time.

My 1.8 year old daughter is not very comfortable on ghats and if possible I would want to get maximum mileage driving next to the Arabian sea

Taking these 2 points into consideration would you advise "Shivamoga - Sagar - Honnavar - Murudeshwara - Bhatkal - Byndoor" ? Or can I get my share of sea views with the route that you suggested ?

Both the options dont give that much for sea views. And both have fair share of ghat sections. But yes, maybe Hullikal has more twisty roads. But more importantly its low on traffic.

All said and done, if you are comfortable with Honnavar, please go ahead.

Did the Shimoga - Sagar - Jog falls - Honnavar - Murudeshwar - Sai Vishram resort route. There is 4/6 lane work going on between Honnavar and Baindur. So unless you have any stops planned this route is not recommended. In spite of the works the traffic is not that bad. Getting past Bhatkal is a pain though! I think the routes suggested by Ampere are more pleasant to drive at a stretch!
