Yes I did mean what Kala mentioned. Tiruppur can be avoided as it gets difficult going through the town.
Going via Kangeyam-Palldam-Pollachi is much easier and also a stress free driving experience.

Re: Hotels enroute Cochin-Bangalore

Just back from an awesome trip to Alleppy-Munnar-Thekkady. As decided, left Bangalore on 22nd Dec at 12:00 pm and reached Tirupur at 6:00 pm. Stayed there overnight at Hotel DRG, a decent one. Next day morning left at 9:00 am and went to Palladam. From there continued to join the CBE bypass and took the usual Palakkad-Shoranur route to reach Alleppy via Thrissur-Kochi. Good roads throughout except at Walayar where there were lot of deviations due to on-going work leading to traffic jams. Also, Tirupur was not a big pain to pass-through considering I reached there in the evening.
Allepy to Munnar via Kochi. Again good roads throughout. Same with Munnar to Thekkady. Return route via Theni-Dindigul-Salem-Bangalore. Amazing roads.

Noticed 2 new hotels on either side of the first toll booth after Coimbatore when coming from Coimbatore side. Looked decent and I saw many cars parked there.

Hotel Aryas in Perundurai seems to have boarding and Lodging now. Noticed that the sign boards to Hotel Aryas said boarding & lodging while driving back to Bangalore on Jan 5th.

Only good thing is that its bang on the highway. But if in Perundurai, Chenni's is always preferable. Thats the first thought, without giving the Aryas a fair chance.

How does the place look otherwise?

Did not check out the place. Hence no idea how it is but it is definitely one more option. Have not stayed in chennis. It was full when I tried once.

Are you OK to splurge? If yes Grand Estancia and Park Plaza are ideal places. If you start by 4/4:30, you should be there by 7.

Well I am looking for an A2b sort of a place to have breakfast. I don't mind one of these two as long as they aren't exhorbiant.

Re: Hotels enroute Cochin-Bangalore

What time/place are you leaving bangalore? You have

1. McD/CCD/Sri Krishna Sagar/A2b before Krishnagiri
2. Hotel Saravana Bhavan(original ) just after Krishnagiri
3. A2B before Dharmapure ( its on the right )
4. Hotel Saravana Bhavan(original ) between Salem and Bhavani

So take your pick!!

If you are looking at something in and around Salem the only option is Saravana Bhavana after Salem at Sankari. Before Salem you have some options as @m8002 mentioned.

Re: Hotels enroute Cochin-Bangalore

As an update, had breakfast at A2B which is after Darmapuri, some 50k away from Salem. This joint is at a Coco HP bunk. If you are travelling towards Salem then this is on the other side of the road towards Dharmapuri.
