Same with me. I usually avoid outside food for 2-3 days before the long trip.

Last week I could not follow this approach and had to drive 750 KMs with an upset stomach. It was slightly difficult but found that fuel stations on highways (I drove on NH7 from BLR to TVM) have decent, hygienic restrooms. Heard that fuel stations are given license only if they have good restrooms.

Re: Team-BHP Foodies Corner - Eat Safe on long drives

When i travel i tend to pack food for one meal and carry alot of biscuits, bottled water , Haldirams mixture etc for the long drive.
Always try to eat freshly made food like Dosas with less oil, steamed food like rotis ,dal and egg burji .
And always light and lots of chai/tea and water....
