Thanks for the prompt reply,

I had to confirm because the route you suggested is not appearing in Map My India maps. That is why I had asked.

I have traced the map following your route till sikkal. From sikkal, MMI does not show any connecting road to ramanathapuram via eravadi and Kizhakarai. I will post a view from MMI please see and clarify.

GM is out of date. There has been a road via Keelakarai and Eravadi for decades, but seems to me the map-makers in GM think otherwise.

Don't worry, take the route that I have indicated, I have driven it myself and recent drive accounts from others who have say it is in great condition:
Thoothukudy-Vembar 30 kms-Sayalkudi 15-Sikkal 25-Eravadi 10-Kizhakarai 10-Ramanathapuram 17-Mandapam 39-Pamban Bridge-3-Rameswaram 15

Do you have a GPS? If yes, can you attach the track log? That would be useful.
