Fantastic work PYSO. This should help a lot of people travelling is this region.

I don't think the Tiring to Jamshedpur Road is a new one. I had been to Jashipur back in 1991 (while going to Simplipal). I don't remember the route we had taken, but Jashipur was 110 KM from Jamshedpur. Wouldn't have been possible if the Tiring to Jamshedpur road was not there.

Google maps is good, but its quite possible its incomplete.

Even the physical maps - including the detailed district maps of Jharkhand and Orissa - do not have the Tiring-Jamshedpur road, there is only a road from Tiring via Chaibasa.

This road was very much there in 1991, went via a place called 'Haldipokhar', can't forget the name of this place; it still sounds so funny.

Just checked on Google Earth, you can see this road, but for some reason, it is not marked.

Its nice to read that you complet your journey to Jamshedpur safely.

Yes the best rout from Raipur to Jamshedpur is

Raipur--> Sambalpur --> Chauduar/Manguli (From manguli squre take left turn)
Chandikhol --> Bhadrak --> Soro --> Kuruda (Take Left diversion way to BARIPADA)
Baripada --> Jashipur --> Jamshedpur.

In this route the road is good at least you can maintain 70-80 Kmph. Facility is good.
No problem for fuel / Food / medical / lodging etc.

Why is NH6 condemned to remain in such a bad condition most of the year?

No idea Sir.

But as per locals the contractor is causing the delay.

I saw on my last trip(May last week) the work on GQ is on full speed.
At least they will ready one lane befor rain.
Mainly the GQ work between Bhadrak --> Soro --> Balasore is on full speed.

After Tiring, there is the straight route to Jamshedpur (which goes straight to Jamshedpur without touching Chaibasa) and there is a left diversion to Chaibasa ( I didnt take this diversion).

And I hope that the people of Orissa are given better roads to drive on by the authorities as soon as possible.

Why are you leaving out Bihar, Jharkhand & UP. Orissa still has better roads than Jharkhand.

Havent driven through Bihar & UP. The only roads I have driven in Jharkand is the road from Tiring to Jamshedpur, which was in good condition. But I heard from some truck drivers I talked to that roads in Jharkand are in horrible condition.

Indian public deserves good roads. And I hope the authorities do the needful. I am wondering if corruption is the mean reason why important roads like NH6 are in bad condition? Or is it due to non-allocation of funds?

That will be quite a detour!
Bhadrak to (towards) Balasore is no cakewalk.
Kuruda: Is that the Udala road?

Many years back, used to do Chaibasa - Baripada often enough courtesy Simlipal, and a friend of mine whose hometown was Baripada, and whose in-laws place was Chaibasa. Road used to be OK, but very narrow. And rather deserted.

How is the Sambalpur - Rourkella road nowadays? Used to be very good.

Now Bhadrak to (towards) Balasore is quite good. GQ road construction is in full speed.

Kuruda: Is that the Udala road?
No, it is just before BALASORE town, After that BIRLA TYRES Factory comes.

yes the road is there but in very bad condition.

Now the road is not that good as before, some patch is bad. Thanx to many Steel Plant on that road. But good speed(60--90 Kmph) can be maintained.

Re: Raipur to Jamshedpur - route / road condition

Latest update on Bhilai-Raipur-Sambalpur-Deograh-Koenjhar-Rimuli-Jamshedpur route.
1. Bhilai-Raipur-Sambalpur : 4 Lane road. No issues.
2. Sambalpur-Deograh : Road has deteriorated, but still Ok. Be alert for sudden cracks and places where tar has come off.
3. Deogarh-Koenjhar - Road is in pathetic state. Kanjipani Ghaati is in really bad state. Low GC cars will not be able to make it.
4.Koenjhar-Rimuli-Jamshedpur - Great road. 2 Lane, but super smooth.

Re: Raipur to Jamshedpur - route / road condition

Hi Team,

I need to travel to Ranchi (exactly to Bokaro Steel City) from Hyderabad in May 2019. Needed your help in knowing below things :

1. Ideal and safe route
2. Road Conditions
3. Accomodation options in ~1500 km distance

I will starting from hyderabad in the night and can driv around ~800km in a stretch with 2-3 tea breaks.

I know inputs from recent travellers in this route would be more relevant.

Many thanks in advance.
