Do you really want to do that and not enjoy the beautiful 2-Lane NH206?
Its green on both sides and is brilliant. Just that Tumkur bypass is bad.

Food is also not a major problem. There is a CCD at Arsekere.

Can someone who has recently traveled update the condition of NH13 from Chitradurga to Solapur?
Thanks.

- Chitradurga-Hospet : Quite bad. Instead the preferred option is Hiriyur-Bellar-Hospet
- Hospet-Bijapur : Goofd 4-lane
- Bijapur-Solapur: 2-lane with traffic. Some rough patches. Like any other normal 2-lane NH.

Chitradurga - Hospet Update:

I did this route in October this year. The roads are bad in patches which may be just about 10-15 kms of the whole 127 kms distance between Chitradurga - Hospet. Two lane road but a manageable stretch. In terms of facilities there are a few Dhabhas and quite a few fuel pumps en route.

Plus this route is having constant truck traffic unlike the Challakere route which is isolated in parts. I have been doing the NH13 for many years now and recommend this route.

Completed the trip from 2nd to 5th Jan, 2015, in an optra magnum.

Bangalore - Chitradurga = excellent, Tolled, 3 lane per side.

Chitradurga - Hospet = OK.
free to use, undivided 2 lane with heavy truck traffic, some bad patches, beware of humps present near villages. ~ 130km, could maintain average speed of 60+ in free stretches, careful driving required

Hospet - Bijapur = 10/10 for this stretch,
This is how roads should be but sans tolls Wonderful stretch, made up for time lost in other slow stretches. Optra Magnum was planted on the road at serious speeds as it accelerates without effort past 80, slowed down to normal speeds in order to maintain road discipline and rules.

Saw an 2wheeler accident, poor chap, but ambulance was rushing to it. Thank goodness for toll operators with facilities. Some rash driving from wrong side was also experienced, mostly 2 wheelers, 2 small commercial vehicles, and one dumper truck with lights on in the face of oncoming traffic on a bridge, changing lanes. Sad that these heavy vehicles do not have any sense of discipline. Had to brake hard.

Bijapur - Solapur = OK.
free to use, undivided 2 lane with medium truck traffic, some craters and bad patches (more than Chitradurga - Hospet) (being patched), beware of humps present near villages, could maintain average speed of 60+ in free stretches, careful driving required, poor road discipline experienced.

Total toll Bangalore to Bijapur = 405/- (LMV), unless i misplaced a receipt.

Solapur check post issued me a LCV toll for Rs. 10/- , maybe seeing a KA registered vehicle. Was wondering why others went free?

Maharastra college kids tried to have fun at Tuljapur by sending me to Hyderabad (2Km), but gps route told me otherwise.

Edit: Fuel efficiency for the trip :16+ on the Optra Magnum, happy with it.

How is the route from Punyasthala to Hyderabad.

I took the Hyderabad, Kurnool, Bellary, Chitradurga route. The Bellary stretch was horrible.

Return an thinking of Hospet, Raichur, Mahboobnagar, Hyderabad.

Re: NH13 Road condition? Update: Do not take it from Chitradurga-Hospet

I think the thread title needs to be edited. I took NH13 from Hospet to Bangalore last month and it was not at all bad. There are few potholes here and there but the road is good for the most part. Truck traffic is certainly quite high but its not as bad as it used to be. Its not bad enough for one to go up to Bellary and add another 40 to 50 kms. From what I know the Hospet to Bellary stretch is not so good.

I drove from Belgaum to Hospet and then from Hospet to Bangalore, all in a day. Started from Belgaum at 7 AM . Had 1 hr meeting in Hospet + another 1 hr break for lunch. Was in Bangalore by 7 PM.
