Thanks for the update. So you mean NH207 from Devanahalli to Hoskote is not great? What was the intended destination to chose this bypass section? KR Puram/ORR/Hebbal can be tricky depending on the time of the day you pass through.

Helped me escape the tolls at BIAL and Hoskote but the road is a 2-lane undivided carriageway and has quite a few potholes, some very big to shake up all the passengers, and too many twists and curves apart from speed breakers.
This is quite surprising to note that the road has deteriorated so much between April and now about 2 months.
I'd taken this in mid April and the road was fine without any major potholes in the Devanahalli-Hoskote section of NH207

Vellore.
Well, I guess I was plain lucky. I was to halt a little after KR Puram since I was passing that way but never realised that I had crossed it till I saw Hebbel flyover and was dumbstruck and thought I am dreaming.

It was not as good as it was last October. Since I made good progress through the city, I am happy not to bye-pass the city.

Re: On Bypassing Bangalore

I regularly use NH 207 to bypass Banglore.

From Devanahalli to Hoskote the roads are quite twisty lot of curves the roads are in good condition.
At two place where a culvert is narrow there are speedbreakers no potholes.

Hoskote to Chikkatirupathi

The roads are again twisty and two intersections are bit confusing as there are no signboards. Some rough patches are there which have been tarred newly.

Chikka Tirupathi towards Seegepura is widened and the last stretch of
a half kilometre needs to be tarred. Its about 4kms drive takes you to Baglur-Malur SH
as mentioned by Ampere.

The Seegapura upto Baglur has potholes and are manageble.
After you cross Baglur the roads are in good condition till Hosur.

During the day time it takes 1.30mins to 2 hrs sometimes depending on the traffic
Night time after 11pm the road eases out and can do in bit more than an hour.

It saves time and toll.

Brilliant! You have already covered that! Is that your default route (Rather than going through Sarjapur?)

It is my default route.

You cannot do more than 100kms speed except for some stretches of straight roads. It has lots of curves that is only the issue .
As I am well versed with the road even in the night had no issues as policemen were there at major intersections in this route.

Re: On Bypassing Bangalore

Need some quick help. Coming from the airport, which is the quickest way to reach Mysore Road? Time will be around 10pm.

I think you can do Mekhri Circle-Yeshwanthpur-CMTI-ORR-Mysore Road. Where in Mysore road are you heading to ?

CMTI is Central Manufacturing Technology Institute at Goruguntepalya on Tumkur Road. It is a point on the route that NPV mentioned.

To explain the route mentioned by NPV:
From Airport
come on Airport Road, cross Hebbal Flyover, continue upto Mehkri Cir
Turn Right and head all the way towards Yeshwantpur
Follow the road to Join Tumkur Road ( the signs may say Tumkur / Pune / Bombay )
Go past Yeshwantpur Railway station for about 1.5 km or so
You will see a left turn saying Mysore. ( 10 km from Mehkri circle)
Take left,
This is the ORR
Once you reach Mysore Road, turn right towards Mysore.

Alternately:
Turn right at Hebbal flyover onto ORR
You will reach Tumkur Road ( 8 km from Hebbal flyover)
Turn Right,
and about 150 m later, turn left
This is also ORR towards Mysore Road.
Once you reach Mysore Road, turn right towards Mysore.

If going to Mysore, take the NICE road instead of ORR. After the ORR junction near CMTI, go straight, take the elevated road, at the down ramp pay toll and enter service road. Soon you will see entry to NICE road. Take that and exit at Mysore road and proceed to Mysore.

This is the route I took. The truck traffic at the railway cross was too much and caused a lot of delay. I should have gone ahead and taken a right at the Mekhri circle.

Ok. Should try this next time.

Incidental. Traffic there can stop at times when there's trains going through. At other times it will keep moving. Evening / night, the trains may be more, hence some dealy there. But on the other hand, you could end up in a jam at Yeshwantpur in the evenings because of buses that leave for other cities.

But yes, you can try NICE instead of ORR.

Re: On Bypassing Bangalore

That's been my regular route since a decade now and I always try to avoid the Railway Crossing mess on the ORR.

These days even the FlyBus between Mysore and KIAL avoids this Railway Crossing by taking the Platinum City - Jalahalli Road.

Till the ROB work gets over, its a huge gamble this side and that particular stretch of ORR better be avoided.

That Railway crossing is a nightmare at most times, rarely does one get lucky and escape its wrath, which is why I did not suggest it.
Going via Mekhri circle-Yeshwanthpur-Tumkur Road upto CMTI-ORR-Mysore Road OR
Mekhri circle-Yeshwanthpur-Tumkur Road upto NICE Road-Mysore Road would be better.

Problem with Jalahalii route is sometimes the jams extend even till the BEL circle (a friend mentioned earlier this week he was stuck there for an hour!)
