re: Accommodation At Dandeli - Suggestions?

Had been there to Dandeli recently, and stayed in 'Vimal Garden Homestay'.

The owners Sunil and Sujit were helpful the service provided was great. The accommodation cost you only Rs.350 per person.
They have different rates for choice of food, packages(Adventure & Water activities) includes rides etc.. etc.

I only taken the accommodation option as i was there for a client meet.

you can contact them on

re: Accommodation At Dandeli - Suggestions?

Can someone suggest a quiet homestay / resort in Dandeli (2015 update!) for a couple? Budget is to stay for a few days, rather than doing a zip-crash-zip tour and spend $$ on hotels..

Amara Home Stay - 08383-252564 &/or 094810 54486.

Check out Trip Advisor Reviews for this home stay. One of the best and the host takes hospitality to a total different level. The food that you will partake will be the best that you have eaten anywhere.

Check out 'The Old Magazine House' of JLR in Ganeshgudi, a very quiet place and serene place, because it is a off-season rates should be reasonable. Food served here was too good when I stayed last time.

+1 to the JLR, Quite a place that. Their itnry is also just perfect. Booking can be done online and its a breeze to book, if the rooms are available,

re: Accommodation At Dandeli - Suggestions?

Thank you for the recommendations guys. JLR looks really interesting!

One question, why does everyone seem to offer "per person" tariffs in Dandeli?

Re: Accommodation At Dandeli - Suggestions?

JLR, Dandeli is adjacent to Dandeli town (as are all the homestays too). Old Magazine House( or even better Kulgi Nature camp) is located deeper in the jungle

But JLR Dandeli has the advantage of being on the banks of the lovely lovely Kali river

I don't think it's just in Dandeli, many other places as well the resorts and homestays (unlike regular hotels that charge per room) charge like this. In fact even JLR properties at Kabini and K Gudi charge per person. This usually includes food and the Safari rides

Re: Accommodation At Dandeli - Suggestions?

All JLR properties charge on a per-person per-day basis. Thats how it has been all the time. And as NPV said, it rolls in all the activities planned at their respective sites.

Re: Accommodation At Dandeli - Suggestions?

Bison River resort beats JLR accommodation and facility wise IMO.
Most of the water sports happen here and people from the near by home stays and resorts jump in here to experience the rafting, rappelling and the works. The food is also great. You would have to drive down to a town called Ganeshgudi which is about 20-25 kms from Dandeli and yes, the resort is right on the bank of Kali river.

Re: Accommodation At Dandeli - Suggestions?

Over the Christmas period, I stayed at a very nice home stay in Dandeli called Dandeli Chalet. Just 5 cottages, which are all independent, a common area which has a dining room and a play room for kids. Lots of open space around. The owner Sudarshan is a nice person and runs the property personally and is very helpful. We were a group of 4 families so we pretty much occupied most of the property. In addition to the cottages, they put up tents during peak seasons and some families stay in those tents, but there is a fair distance between the cottages and tents, so there is no disturbance.

Food is quite basic home cooked food (it can be repetitive after a couple of days as variety is limited). Downside/upside depending on your predisposition is that it is only Veg and they discourage spirits on the property.

Location is 8 km from Dandeli town and about 15-20km from Ganeshgudi where the water sports activities take place. The owner has a fair knowledge of the flora and fauna in the area and is quite into plants and birds. He has a spice farm at some distance from the resort and was kind enough to take us on a tour there. He also arranged a guide for us on a very interesting and relatively unknown trek through the nearby jungles. Absolutely no tourists on that route and wonderful waterfalls at the end of the trek.

Overall, I would highly recommend if you are planning a base for adventure activities or treks in the jungle. If you are coming only for the water sports, Bison River resort is where it all happens so it is more convenient. Downside of Bison resort is that you get tourists from all over coming in there for the activities, and if you are actually staying there, I am guessing it could get a little too crowded for comfort.

Re: Accommodation At Dandeli - Suggestions?

Kadumane Homestay is excellent. You will feel at home. Run by amiable Narasimha Bhat who has amazing knowledge of flora and fauna of the area.http://dandelikaadumane.com/

For god's sake don't stay in Bison river resort. Check out my review in Trip Advisor https://www.tripadvisor.in/ShowUserR...Karnataka.html

Re: Accommodation At Dandeli - Suggestions?

Can anyone suggest better road to reach Dandeli via Belgaum? Google map suggests - Belgaum -> Kittur -> Haliyal -> Dandeli and also Belgaum -> Khanapur -> Dandeli. Can anyone confirm which is a better route, better from road conditions perspective?

Thanks!
