Bangalore to Honnali - Route query

Hi guys,

Am intending to travel to Honnali ( in Davangere dist - Karnataka) during the end of this month.

I am aware that there are 2 ways to go to Honnali, ie, via shimoga or via Chitradurga - Chikjajur - santhebennur - Honnali.

Need some inputs as to which would be the better route and also some info about the road conditions. I would be preferring the chitradurga route ( for obvious NH reasons). Also Chitradurga route seems to be shorter in distance than the Shimoga route.

Any inputs / help / suggestions / guidance - Most welcome from fellow T-bhpians who have idea about the road conditions.

Thanks in advance,
Rajesh.

NH4 makes sense. Faster commute and better roads.

However, Davangere-Honnali-Shimoga is not in good condition whichever route you take.

Hvk sir,
Thanks for the response.

which route do you reckon i should be taking then ? are you referring to the section via chikjajur & santhebennur ? This should be passing thro' Holalkere also ? am i right ?

By the way, i will be travelling in a Wagon-R, and mostly will be joined by my parents who are in their 70s.

I also agree with ampere. Better to go on NH4 till DAvangere and go to Honnali from there. Please do not experiment with any of the smaller interior roads in the rainy season.
