Around Pune in Monsoon

Hi,
I have a 4 day long leave coming in late August. I would appreciate if you could help with some options. I can opt to make some place a base, and visit around. The main purpose would be relaxing, and may be some safe water sports/park (exclduing beaches).

Thanks,
Regards
Narendra

As monsoon is running on, best option is Bhandaradara.
Its best place to relax without much crowd.
The natural beauty is best during this season, water sports may not available during monsoon.

Second option is my favorite Amboli.

Third option is amba ghat. you can relax here, can go to pavankhind, vishalgad fort, marleshwar waterfall.

All places are more than 200km away from pune.

Not hijacking your thread naren but I am planning a small trip this w/end (my mother+sister will be with me) I want to avoid beaches (which I love - in any weather) and bad roads.

Anybody has any idea of Jawhar/Igatpuri as monsoon destinations? Else it will be the tried and tested Panchgani/M'war for us.

Ashish, OT, read earlier that you were visiting Shivneri this week? I was there last sunday and went upto Manikdoh too, excellent time to do this area now although I really do not like the NH till Narayangaon.

Mahaby is my fall back option (even made provsiional booking).

Out of Bhandardara/Amboli: Somehow I might like to visit Amboli. Can you pls suggest any good place to stay. Budget is around 5-7 K for two nights (inlcuding food).

Abhay, nos issues, if at all, your queries would help me get additonal options.

Amboli roads are now blocked it seems because of landslides. I dont know which side though.

AP, is it possible to Bhandardara for just two nights, meaning leaving Pune by Friday afternoon, coming back to Pune by Sunday afternoon?

Budget 5-7k for 2 nights, bahot zyada hai,
amboli me saste me kaam ho jayega!!!

Best in Amboli is Green Valley MTDC resort.
You can book online with mtdc.

Avoid weekends as there is mad rush from kolhapur, belgaum and goa to this place to have monsoon masti.

Anainar. It is very much possible to do that in 2 days (Bhandardara from Pune).
Why don't you also combine Malshej along with Bhandardara in case you are not keen in trekking Ratangad.

So I found a good place for a monsoon trip, went to Amba Ghat for a 1n stay
Would have liked to stay and enjoy the rains/jungles more but got fed up due to some people...at the place I stayed, instead of enjoying the nature, people wanted loud music and movies on the big screen in the restaurant.

Still a nice place, visited Pawan Khind and also saw some bison on the road and some amazing views of Konkan/Sahyadris in the rains.

AP,
I was just talking to one of my friends who treks regularly in Tapola area. He told KAS is already blomming! Our other threads on BHP indicated this happens only in Sept? Do you have any idea. I am heading to Mahableshwar and Tapola next week end.

Thanks

Best person to contact for current position of flower bloom at Kaas is the driver of the bus between Satara and Bamnoli.
Best way to contact that driver is a call to controller at Satara bus stand.
