We did the trip yesterday. As suggested, the Google Maps route is perfect. Road is super-smooth all the way. There are numerous eating joints good for families. Shravanabelagola is not crowded and quite peaceful. One can park the car on the road in front of the main gate and climb up. Takes about 20 mins to reach the top. Do wear a pair of socks as the granite could be hot. Also keep in mind that the place closes between 11.30 and 3.30 every day.

Requesting for some inputs / advise for a planned visit to Shravanbelagola (Gomateshwara statue) from Bangalore (HSR Layout) on the coming weekend.
1. Best route to take
2. How long does it take once we get there?
3. Any good places to eat (either on the route or there itself)
4. My mother would not be able to climb the stairs but would be ok to sit in the car and have a view of the statue from a distance. Is the parking area safe?
5. Would an early start (eg 6am) be good enough or should we start earlier?
6. Any other places around in that area which are a must see?
7. We are ok in making this an overnight stay as well and seeing some other places if there is a decent hotel / resort.
