it becomes much easier to share and the people in the osm project can also use it to make a free map of the india's roads

I have a series of queries

I use SatNav - Destinator 7 on a mio 320.

I converted your .gpx to Destinator .dat file using GPSBabel.
My next query is where in the Destinator 7 should I copy the converted file.
And the last query (and the most stupidest) - how should I use the file that I copied.
Sorry if my queries are idiotic, but I am not so tech-savvy.

I do not have much experience with destinator 7, but whatever brief experience I have with it, I saw that you could not write tracks of your trips with this software.
However it may be able to read tracks. I suggest you put the track file somewhere on your memory card in destinator folder, and then in the destinator application, look through the menu and see if you have the option of reading track from file

Folks,

This thread does not seem to have progressed much. I am interested in pushing this further and share my (limited) expertise here.

Specifically:

1. I want post .GPX files for commonly used routes in Bangalore. Important thing to keep in mind is that one does not need to have a GPS system to generate GPX files.

2. I can explain how to record tracks and share them with others using iPhone (3G and above).

Let me know if you find value in above and I can kick-start the same.

Thanks.

Still the cataloging is on? If you have all your tracks in one GPX, that would be great.

HVK, I loaded them into Garmin. Pretty heavy, Mapsource chokes!
Because each point, the converter treats as a Way point tries to expand the name.

Also how come, you have files in a Google format? You should be having a GPX right?
As the tracklog should have been directly dumped from the GPS device.

I download the data from my Garmin GPS onto both MapSource (gdb format) and Google Earth (kmz format), edit waypoint info in MapSource, then copy the same info in kmz. Never deal with gpx format.

If you have the GDB, thats even better! Can I get a hand on that (NE and LEH) .

The reason was, conversion, may miss something or add extra details.
Since I use Mapsource, it would be a direct input.
