Try GPS LOGGER for android. It is good for long drives.

I use oruxmaps and androzic. both can take extremely long tracklogs.
Tracklogs are created by day(year-month-date).

Are you referring to GPS Logger by Qwerty?

Thanks for the information vu2pmc and Athani. I never knew that My Tracks cannot be used to record logs which exceeds ~ 250km.

The 250 kms limit with My Tracks is not an official limitation in the program. It is a bug that I discovered on my trip to Goa and back in October. I had emailed the Dev about it. Can someone please test the app on a long drive? Because otherwise its a beautifully simple app to use.

Not sure if the program is from qwerty.. the link for the program is GPSLogger for Android

The best feature is the use of battery is very minimal and you can set the track recording frequency..

Re: Post your GPS logs/tracks here!

Hello
I have a noob question with respect to the MMI device I own. Its Vx140s and about 3 months old. I was wondering how does one ensure that all GPS logs are saved automatically. Is there a setting to do that? Also the device allows to save it in the .kml format which one can then open with Google Earth. Is the KML format a common compliant standard across GPS devices? Thanks in advance.

What platform is your device? And the application that you use or propose to use?

Cant comment on the device settings as I am not familiar with your device. But usually most stand alone GPS devices records track logs automatically. You can make your track log visible. You can delete your track log also.

It is normally in Menu, track options, or setup options.

KML is a standard format across all platforms. You can use a .kml file across multiple platforms like Google earth, GPS bable, CSV KML converter etc.

Re: Post your GPS logs/tracks here!

Here are some GPS log files for a trip I took to Madhya Pradesh. I converted the log files into KML files which is readable by Google Earth.

The route I took was Kolkata->Varanasi->Bandhavgarh->Bhedaghat->Khajuraho->Varanasi->Kolkata

Home-Varanasi.kml

Varanasi-Bandhavgarh-Part1.kml

Varanasi-Bandhavgarh-Part2.kml

Bandhavgarh-Bhedaghat.kml

Bhedaghat-Khajuraho.kml

Khajuraho-Varanasi.kml

Varanasi-Home.kml

A quick question. Is there any way to convert a KML file into a readable route file for an MMI device? What I mean is using a KML file can I create a trip/route in MMI?
