Wow!! It is like a drive back my memory lane. I stayed in Coorg for 4 years (did my engineering from Coorg Institute of Technology). Dont miss to try the momo in Kushalnagar, and the tea estates near Irpu Falls. Last but not the least, please keep the place clean and have a wonderful trip.

@KVS, good to find Coorgis here in TBhp.

KPS: Kodava here too.

1 point is do not worry about ground clearance on the route suggested. May be a problem if you visit a spot in the interiors. Been using a esteem and i didnt have any problem.

Just get your bookings in advance as holiday season is seeing quite a rush. If you want something less crowded do visit south coorg as in irpu falls and the tea estates. Nature is beautiful and you would find places less crowded

Shanti estate - if i remember the name correctly. You can check from karnataka Toursim. This place is around 2 kms from the main town. Not too costly, if the cottages are empty one can negotiate also. Electricity is present, home cooked food, they do farming inside, nice place. Rooms are decent, clean but please do not compare it with any star hotel.

Sorry for the late update Guys.
Done the trip.
And things did not go as planned.
I was to start at 5 in morning. But we started out only at 11 in morning. Do not ask how I managed to do this.

And plan was to reach bangalore by 9 in evening. Well I started off from Mysore at 11 in night. So much for trying to avoid night time driving.
Monday was spent recovering.

So this is how it went.
There was effectively only one day we could spend in coorg.
So the places we saw were Abbey Falls, Raja Seat and Buddhist Monastery.
Thats it. Thats all we could manage. Will visit coorg again. Sometime soon.
We took accomodation at "The Nest" as suggested by fellow Bhpian and they did not dissapoint. They are very good hosts. Sagar and Asha took very good care of us. Highly recommended.
Got to taste some homemade wines and Jams. Too bad that I could not have non veg food. Navratri time guys. Will have it for sure next time.

The road we took to reach nest was somewhat like this:
Bangalore -Yelwal - Thitimati - Devarapura -The Nest
This road has bad patches. The car did scrape the bottom quite a few times.
The road we took back was the regular one. Medikere to Kushalnagar. From there to Mysore.
Highlight of the trip: I learnt the handle brake trick. The way to Abbey falls is quite narrow. And sometimes I had to stop to let the other vehicle pass. Taking the car up from rest on those inclines was exciting once i learnt the trick. Thanks to my brother in law.
I liked the Buddhist Monastry the best. Must visit place. Interacted with a few monks. Infact went to their hostel premises too. Nice people.
Will pen down more when I get time.

Total distance: 594 kms.
Avg: 19 km/l
AC: On half of the time.

Pics coming later when I reach home.

Those pics are awesome. Great snaps. Seems like I have to postpone my trip due to some work during this weekend. But am planning to visit during the Karnataka day weekend. I had booked and cancelled my accomodation for this weekend :(.

Shanti estate is for the traveler who is on a shoestring budget. It is close to our homestay and trust me the smell of moisture from the beds is something you wont be able to avoid. They have just 4cottages and even though the estate is nice, the cottages are not fit for family accommodation.

Nice pics download2pro!!!

Wow!! I was just browsing the website of Homestay, and found that it is in Gonikoppal. Great to see that, since I used to stay at that place itself between 2000 and 2004. Do you mind sharing the rates of homestay?

download2live, You've got really beautiful pictures there. Those pictures of the Bylakuppe, Tibetan settlement reminds me of our trip to coorg last year.

Your Fiat Punto looks so hot! And the mileage 19km/l sounds very good too.

PS: I know that you've clicked more pictures. Keep them coming.

I'm attaching some pictures that I had taken during our visit to Coorg. I hope that you don't have any problems in hijacking your thread.

Has anyone any idea about how good or bad Veerabhumi tourist village resort is ? This is a resort in Kushalnagar and the photos looks good and the price is competitive. Was wondering if anyone had any idea about it.
