Check out this facebook video showing severe flooding on NH4 nearby Kolhapur, Maharashtra !! ( South of Kolhapur city ) Belgaum--Kolhapur section near Kagal.

The alternate route would be Pune-Solapur-Bijapur-Hospet-Bangalore since NH4 is now blocked. Any idea how the roads are in this alternate route and how long does it take to reach Bangalore from Pune?

Expect truckers to be using this alternate route along with the buses as well along with the fact that good sections of the roads will be single lane and will add you your commute time and stress.

Unless absolutely necessary to drive, you can very well avoid.

Planning to ride down from Pune to Murudeshwar during the weekend (10th Aug). The route will be Pune- Hubli- Yellapur- Ankola- Murudeshwar. Can anyone confirm the current status of the NH4 till Hubli? I have seen WhatsApp forwards claiming that the Hubli-Yellapur section is closed for traffic too.
However, the Mum/Pune - Mangalore bus services that usually run along this route have been running unhindered. This makes doubt the aforementioned reports.

Lastly, is it wise to do a 650km ride in this weather or should I just book an Airavat?

Possible block at Shiggaon on NH48. Water had breached tank and flooded the highway.

Water logging also at Shiraguppi ( Hubli=Gadag)

Planning to drive Pune-Hubli-Davangere-Madikeri on 14 Aug 2019. Not sure if NH 4 is reopened. Hopefully weather will change for better by then. Can anyone confirm the status of NH 4 please.

Avoid, don't think the roads will be open by 14th August and there is forecast of more rains.
Even if the water recedes, the damage caused to the road infrastructure will not be fixed anytime soon.

Even in Madikeri, a lot of access roads are blocked or inaccessible due to heavy rains and landslides.

Any update on the road condition between Bangalore-Pune?
Kolhapur situation seems to be severe even today.

I can confirm the highway is still shut down between Belgaum and Kolhapur and at multiple points between Kolhapur and Pune.

NH4 to Kolhapur is reopened today albeit for essential services. Regular traffic should take a couple of more days. However many parts between Belgaum and Dharwad are still stated to be submerged

Any updates on the NH48 for today? Am planned for a drive from Pune to Goa on 15th. Was planing to take the usual Pune-Belgaum-Goa route. But am worried about the situation near Kolhapur. Also not sure of the route from Belgaum to Goa.

Wondering whether I should continue with an alternate route OR altogether cancel the trip?

The highway near Kolhapur is being cleared and vehicle movement has started slowly. Essential supply vehicles are being priority as of now. I heard still about 3 feet of water is standing on some sections. Lots of goods vehicles are stranded all over on both sides and everyone is hoping by this evening the road will open for all. It will take atleast 3 days for things to normalise assuming there are no serious structural damages on the roads or bridges that have borne the brunt of all the water.

Does anyone know the latest w.r.t. the conditions in North Karnataka and West MH? Specifically talking about Hubli - Belgaum - Kolhapur - Pune stretch. I am getting conflicting reports from all over. Worse, Google Maps suggests that I should take the longer route (via Vijaypura - Solapur - Pune).

Does anyone have the latest update on this?
