Refer few posts above/before and you will get your answers.

Most of the Reliance Fuel stations on KA part of this highway have been operational since a while now and latest update from vivek95 also confirms they are functional on MH side too.

If you are not too particular about Reliance, look for a list of Good fuel stations (BPCL, HPCL and IOCL) on the very first post of this thread.

Quite easily. I have driven from Mumbai to Pune after crossing 2 Lacs in my WagonR. I don't see a correlation to Bad roads and Car's age. If your car is roadworthy and you have ensured to take care of it well, I dont see any issues with that.

Now to answer your question - The complete highway is good despite quite a few diversions from Satara to Pune. That should not be a deterrent at all. Have a safe drive.

Hello,

Has anyone used the Fast Tag Toll collection system on the Bangalore-Pune

Here you go, a recent update by NPV from his last drive a week back.

On the Bangalore-Satara route FasTag worked or was allowed to pass via the designated lane at the following tolls:
  • Elevated section toll near Nagasandra (did not receive SMS yet)
  • Nelamangala (did not receive SMS yet)
  • Guilalu Rs.60, received SMS
  • Hirebagewadi Rs.80, received SMS
  • Anewadi Rs.55, received SMS

On the Satara-Bangalore route FasTag worked at the following tolls:
  • Anewadi Rs.55 (did not receive SMS yet)
  • Hirebagewadi Rs.80, received SMS
  • Guilalu Rs.60, received SMS
  • Chokkenahalli Rs.17, received SMS
  • Nelamangala Rs.20, received SMS

Notes:
  • At other tolls, the FasTag lane was either closed or wasn't operational.
  • At Hirebagewadi/Guilalu (not sure), the attendant at the booth handed me the hand-held scanner and asked me to point on the tag and press the red button in the middle to Authenticate the tag
  • Hubli toll of Rs.61 - the toll booths issue old school coupon type receipts, they don't even have a computer/other electronic equipment inside!
  • At couple of tolls, the attendants were sitting near the beginning of the lane about 50m before the toll booth with hand-held scanners, scanning and then allowing to pass through the lane.

Just a few minutes ago I received another SMS message for Hebbalu toll on the return journey for Rs.75

So, the tolls where FasTag works on this route are:
Anewadi Rs.55
Hirebagewadi Rs.80
Guilalu Rs.60
Hebbalu Rs.75
Chokkenahalli Rs.17
Nelamangala Rs.20

*And on the onward journey, usually a free pass at the elevated toll down ramp on the FasTag lane, seems to take a very long time to get the charge reflected in the account for this toll.

I'm planning to travel to Sangli this weekend. Would Pune - Peth Naka on NH4 be crowded if I start at 2:30 PM on Friday, specially considering the multiple diversions till Satara? Or would a 5 AM start on Saturday be better?

Also, any idea how the road condition is from Peth Naka to Sangli?

Cheers,
Vikram

0230 PM would mean you will be at Peth Naka around 0600 PM at max with all your breaks or any delays at the toll booths. Should not be a bad time at all except may be little local traffic right when nearing Islampur due to industries shutting down at this time.

Regarding diversions, I would say worry less on these. They are not bad at all and you will have your say when you drive here. The diversions are well managed and it only gets ugly during weekends (or longer weekends) when traffic is thick. Else the experience so far has been nothing less than satisfactory.

Thanks for your reply. I confess I was not looking forward to getting up at 4 AM on a Saturday

Peth Naka to Sangli is anyway slow most times of the day, so am mentally prepared for that

Cheers,
Vikram

Not at all, A well prepared mind means you know what is coming next. I have on many occasions left post noon and so I share my experience.

The Diversions were bad earlier mainly because the roads (for diversions) were in very bad shape. Once these were attended do, life got easier.

Also, wherever 6 lane is completed from Pune towards Satara (includes good progress on Khambhatki Ghats which was a negative earlier), its breeze and that compensates heavily on the lost time at these diversions every time you slow down and slot in 3rd.

When driving anywhere in MH, especially urban areas, don't complain . If you are used to Pune - Nashik, you know where I am coming from!

So I did Bangalore to Talegaon (a little ahead from Pune towards Mumbai) yesterday. Started from JP Nagar via ORR at 3:25 am. Crossed Pune at 3:30 pm with stops at BP coco (apna ghar) after Rannebennur, tea break at Hotel Goa Ves before Hotel white house , BP Coco Appanchiwadi( Nippani), lunch at Vaishali Shirwal. Toll paid was ₹ 930 for 900 kms which is quite high IMO. Though work has progressed a bit on Satara-Pune stretch, I can see that a lot of flyovers which were half started lie abandoned with moss & plants all over them. I hope one day my son will pass over them in his self-driving car. He is a year old now & that should be plenty of time to complete them if at all. Just a tip for those using the BP Coco (Apna ghar) should use the washrooms of the restaurant & not the fuelling station.
I will be returning on 12th Morning.

How to get this FasTag access/account and how does this work in toll booths?
