Thanks for info Kadri..

I prefer Volvo as they reach bit aster, normally i stick to KSRTC as they dont waste time unlike the PVt operators...

It can't better than this. 1700 posts and 85,629 views for this thread. This is the highest viewed and posted thread in this route/travel section of team bhp. For me these numbers convey the popularity of an important rode which connect Capital city and the coastal city and the current pathetic state of roads due to which people are struggling to find alternative :(

Any updates on Shiradi ghat repair plans?

@recshenoy, brilliantly said

How I wish these posts are viewed by our Transport Authorities!

As requested, any update on the Shiradi Ghat would be welcome, as I intend going down to the coast shortly

It starts at 10.40PM from Ghandinagar, you have a online booking option.

I have already booked it for Friday

Really excited to take this new bus.

Segull and Sea bird are different. Seagulll is still there. Sea bird is also a old operator. Most of their services are to North Kanara and Goa. Now they have launched services in Mangalore and Udupi also.

The sleeper coach bus which comes to Mangalore is an old bus. But other buses which they have to Goa and other places are all new. Have travelled 3 times in it. Service is ok like others. Nothing to complain about.

Ok some good info on the "buses" also

Continuing my query, has anyone traveled in KSRT volvos?
have heard offlate the breakdown rate has increased?

used to take the 9 or 9:15pm buses which used to reach by 5:45..6 am

Just inquired on "Isuzu" buses with the Seabird. it seems the departure time is at 10:30 and reaches by 6am...

Quite true. The last time we took an Airavat to M'lore, there were 3 buses that departed earlier, which had broken down. Our bus could accommodate people from the first broken down bus (and this one had stalled somewhere on Magadi Road, where there is sparse traffic :( ). In any case, taking an early bus helps, as the staff somehow make arrangements to ferry the passengers.

Travelling by KSRTC Volvo's you need to have a good luck. If you are lucky you will get a new volvo bus which would be in good condition and clean.

If your luck is bad then you may end up with a old volvo bus whose seats are old and is not in good condition.

I travelled last in Volvo KSRTC during Dasara time. It took the Mysore route. Compared to earlier days KSRTC volvo's have become slow.

Many people have a misconception that private bus reach late. But actually if you see most of the KSRTC volvo buses start early hence they reach early. Private volvo's genrelly leave at around 11PM from Mangalore. The journey time is the same be it KSRTC or Private.

Ballal Volvo is slow, but VRL Volvo had a amazing speed.

Manjunath Vovlo, its in a horrible condition.
