Its on the left side, nearest land mark is indian oil bunk which is on the left, about 100 mts you can see this huge building.

hope this helps...
This is located at a place called Bellur cross. It is approx 30 kms from Kunigal as Lohith has mentioned.

Thanks Addy for mentioning "bellur cross" forgot to do so

also their is a small thatte idli hotel at kunigal town, idli's are super soft and crispy vada but its a bit difficult to locate as its a very small hotel.

just after the bust stop in a distance of 100+mtrs you can find the place on the right(considering you are driving towards mangalore)

Also the Kamat Upachar that Lohith mentioned is about 10kms after CR Patna onto your right. Found it decent. I also saw another hotel by name Atithi on the left at the same spot - never tried.

This idli hotel is nothing more than a small box and is located next to Kunigal Town Police Station. You will find it on your right when coming from Bangalore. The idlies are good and you get service to your car. If you stop by this place, don't ever try the coffee, it is horrible.

re: The art of travelling between Bangalore - Mangalore/Udupi

Folks had been to Dharmasthala & Kukke, road to kukke is not smooth as it was few months back...road post gundya improves but i doubt on the quality of work.
road connecting Dharmasthala to nh 48 has also deteriorated a bit.

BC road flyover work has begun and i hope they finish this soon, its pretty smooth drive from BC road to Mangalore leaving few stretches....

Thanks for the update Lohith. Given this, and given that I am planning to take Shiradi Ghats for my trip to Kundapura next month, does it make sense to go via Mangalore? How is the Mangalore - Udupi stretch now?

The Mangalore Udupi road is at its best right now. No potholes or craters of any sorts. But since the road widening work is going on, there might be unexpected delays due to blocks.

Expect bottlenecks and bumper to bumper traffic near mangalore port during the rush hour.

re: The art of travelling between Bangalore - Mangalore/Udupi

Guys today am in Bangalore, it took me about 7hours which included 1hour break.
from gundya about 10kms its bad am sure all the cars with low gc will suffer badly, but advy dint bottom anywhere but road gets better as you climb.

Sakleshpura till banglore is fun with 4lane almost done from adichunchungiri maintaining 120+ is easy...

after a long time i cam via nelmangala and the overbridge is a blessing every paisa of 15bucks you pay as toll is worth!

Dubey i think one can save a lot of time in this route now, just avoid the peak hour.

Thanks guys. Going by the above inputs, I am tending towards option 'A', given that the distance for all the three options is around 470 km (+/- 10 kms):

A. Bangalore - Nelamangala - Sakleshpura - Mangalore - Udupi - Kundapura

B. Bangalore - Nelamangala - Sakleshpura - Uppinangadi - Belthangadi - Karkala - Udupi - Kundapura

C. Bangalore - Nelamangala - Sakleshpura - Nelyadi - Dharmastala - Ujire - Belthangadi - Karkala - Udupi - Kundapura

Any thoughts?

The route between Uppinangadi -
Belthangadi was in bad state 3 months ago. I doubt if it has seen some improvements.

What is your criteria here? If one is going to Kundapura, why take Shiradi Ghat? I wouldn't consider any of these.

I would take this (just 420Kms): Bengaluru, Karnataka to Kundapura, Karnataka - Google Maps
