My travel route is,
Day 1:
Bangalore -> Horanadu -> Udupi/Ambalpadi(Night halt)
Day 2:
Udupi -> Anegudde Ganapati Temple -> Kollur -> Kamalashile(Night halt)
Day 3:
Kamalashile -> Sringeri -> Bangalore.

As it would be hectic to drive to Sringeri on the second day with the above plan, thought of resting at Kamalashile. Hence please suggest staying and dinner options for 3 adults at Kamalashile for a night.

Thanks,
Ramki
Kamalashile temple has lodging facilities with decent rooms, but nothing fancy. I'm on phone, so unable to provide further information now. Another option would be to stay at Kollur and proceed to Kamalashile on the morning of the third day.

I have a suggestion for you on the plans for Day 2 and Day 3
Day 2:
Udupi -> Anegudde Ganapati Temple -> Kollur -> Kamalashile -> Sringeri (Night halt)
Day 3:
Sringeri -> Bangalore.

On Day 2 Leave early so that you are at Anegudde Ganapati at around 8:00 am, after the darshan and other religious offering yo can start to Kollur at 9:00 am from Anegudde. By 10:00 am you can be in Kollur.
Finish Darahan and other religious offering plus the prasadam lunch at Kollur and you can start to Kamalashile at 2:30 pm and by 3:30 pm you can reach Kamalashile. Post Darshan and other related things; Start by 4:30 pm to Sringeri which will take nearly 2 Hrs drive from Kamalashile. You can halt at Sringeri on Day 2.

The whole distance on Day 2 will not be more than 200 Kms.

Let me know if you need more refined plan.

Indeed on Day2 we need to start visit Udupi temple and ambalpadi in the morning after this we need to reach Anegudde temple. Hence thought reaching Kollur will be around 12 pm. So was thinking of halting at Kamalashile.
If there is much refined plan, please share it, so that i can plan better.

Thanks again,

Re: The art of travelling between Bangalore - Mangalore/Udupi

Guys, I did a Bangalore-Charmadi-Dharmasthala-Kukke-Shiradi-Bangalore this weekend.

Charmadi Ghat road is awesome with almost no potholes
Shiradi Ghat road is in shambles between Hassan and Gundya. Almost every curve has potholes. I was tired of driving on this road.

Charmadi is highly recommended as the roads are good and the ghat section is scenic too.

So here is the refined plan for Day 1 and Day 2
My travel route is,
Day 1: Bangalore -> Horanadu -> Udupi/Ambalpadi(Night halt)
On Day 1 Leave early around 4:30 am or 5:00 am to Horanadu. You should be in Horanadu by 11:30 am. Finish Darahan and plus the prasadam lunch and head straight to Udupi at 3:00 pm and by 5:00 pm you can reach Udupi. You can complete Darshan at Udupi and Ambalpady by 8:00 pm. You can halt for the night at Udupi.
As informed earlier, no changes to Day 2. By this way you don't have to stay either in Kollur or in Kamalashile.

Hope this helps.

If you leave 4am, you can have breakfast at Kamath after Channarayapatna.

While returning to Bangalore from Sringeri at around 9 or 10 am, any good place to have lunch?

Thanks,
Ramki

Sorry I missed returning part.

Either you can visit Kamath again or you can try Mayurua near Bellur Cross depending on time you reach here.

By the way any reason not having food at Sringeri temple itself?
Sringeri is nice place, unless you want to visit Chikmanglur on the way you can start little late, have lunch at temple and return.

Chikkamagulur, Belur or Hassan depending on where you would be. All the three places have hotels. If you start earlier, then Hassan is an ideal place.

Won't a 4am start be too early to find Kamath open ?
Last weekend I started at 4am from home and was in Hassan bypass before 6.30am and most eateries upto this stretch were not open. However all eateries were open at Sakleshpur so that may be a more practical option, just my 2 cents
If going towards Belur/Chikmagalur from Hassan, those places may be options as well.

If he zips his way, by the time he reaches Kamath it would be 6:00, don't know his speed. I assumed he goes around 80~90km its around 7:00 when he reaches Kamath, and it would be open. Otherwise he should check in Chikkamaglur. I don't think for Horanadu he takes Sakleshpura road.

There is a Mayura international in Hassan at about 100 meters from the deviation to Belur. I have been here for breakfast and also dinner. The food is better than most of the other restaurants in the stretch. The prices are reasonable.

Most importantly this restaurant is very clean and is recommended. This is a good option for people travelling to m'lore via charmadi.

Re: The art of travelling between Bangalore - Mangalore/Udupi

Folks, Im will be doing Blore -> Udupi -> Mangalore -> Blore next week.
I will be doing in my Fusion-D. Need the fastest/smoothest road.
Will be starting early 5-5:30AM
From the discussions below, Following are my options:

Blore -> Hassan -> Shakleshpur -> Shiradi -> Mlore or Belthangady? -> Udupi
Blore -> Hassan -> Belur/Shakleshpur? -> Mudigere -> Charmadi -> Belthangady -> Karkala -> Udupi
Blore -> Agumbe route -> Udupi
Blore -> Kudremukh -> Udupi

Please provide feedback.
