Just as I feared. I can imagine all the Sunday traffic on Charmadi route, will stick to Agumbe. Thank you
Folks - Landslide and road collapse reported between one of the connecting routes between Sringeri to Agumbe. Pls plan for alternative route between them. Agumbe seems to allow only light vehicles and increased traffic reported at Kerekatte and Hulikal ghats. Jog ghat also reported landslide. Kolkur and Kargal ghats seems to be holding ok.
Yes Agumbe to Sringeri route had some landslide and was cut off, so I decided to stick to Charmadi. Traffic has definitely increased, especially KSRTC busses and crazy Bangalore cabbies who do not know any sense of driving on ghats.
However roads are excellent except for some sudden potholes due to the heavy rains.

KSRTC Airawat buses and most of night bus private operators are taking Bangalore>>Chennarayapatna>> Holenarsipur>>Madikeri>>Sampaje>>Mangalore.
What I heard from my relatives who took a day bus today on the above route is it may not hold until the end of the monsoon as these long buses struggle to manoeuvre some of narrowed sections due to land slides. Fixing the ~200m stretch near Donigal may be the best option.

Shiradi likely to be open in a week's time according to this news article. It will be one-way at the narrow stretch near Donigal.Mangalore bound traffic will use the existing Shiradi ghat road and vehicles going to Bangalore will take another road through villages near Donigal.
News Papers report that special trains between Mangalore-Bangalore are being introduced from July 26th, to help ease travel on this sector.
Drove from Mangalore to Bangalore today via Shiradi ghat today. It is open for light vehicles and KSRTC buses between 6am to 6pm. Very less traffic all the way through, so completed the trip in 6 hours ( Kuntikan in Mangalore to BG Road in Bangalore)

How is the road condition between Sakleshpur <> Gundya? Any improvements in the non-concrete section of the ghats?

Absolutely no improvement. However given the ban on heavy vehicles and only the occasional KSRTC buses to handle, one gets the complete width of the road to drive & figure out the best of road available!!!
Did my monthly run to Belthangady via Charmady and as usual it was a breeze on Sunday morning. Quite a few buses were plying on this stretch. Few hairpins have started getting potholes due to rains and traffic.
It was a very unusual return journey in the evening where Nelamangala usually gets a lot of traffic, but this was not the case even though it was a Sunday evening.
I’m driving to Manipal today noon. From the recent updates here, it looks like Charmadi works better. Shall update post my trip.
Doing a Bangalore - Brahmavara round trip next weekend.
Plan to use the Bangalore - Hiriyur - Tarikere - Lakvalli - Thirthahalli - Agumbe Ghat - Hebri - Brahmavara.
Would greatly help if any one can provide an update on the road condition on any of these sections; esp post Hiriyur and Agumbe ghat section. Thanks in advance!

Roads are quite good throughout. I did this last month but to Udupi.
The stretch of road which bypasses the Vani Vilasa Sagara is a bit broken with a 100 m WIP at the end.
Turning left at Bhadra bypass, there is a small stretch of broken road for a few hundred meters.
I would recommend you to fill at BP Sira for fuel. Food options for a family is limited on this stretch post Tumakuru. I was recommended a small eatery at Tarikere by my friend and it turned out awesome place.
Sri Ramadarshan is the place recommended and is at the following link

It is around 700m from the KSRTC bus stand on the left and can be easily missed.
