Thats the fastest and easiest road. Hubli-Karwar is via Ankola.
If you want to visit Jog, then you have to take NH206 (deviate from Tumkur)
via Arsekere/Tarekere/Shimoga/Sagar/Honnavar.

From Karwar you can visit the Anshi Ghats and view the Kali river valley.
There is no tourist place as such, but views along the roads are very nice.

Karwar to Kadra section of Anshi SH is decent. Its ghat section which is very bad.

Am planning to take a driving holiday to Dandeli from Bangalore sometime during Dec. We want to drive via coastal karnataka the route is roughly.
B'lore-Hassan-M'lore (NH48)
M'lore-Karwar(NH17)
Karwar-Dandeli
Would like to break the onward journey for a night somewhere hopefully Karwar?
And return via NH4 from Dharwad - B'lore

We would be driving in a Corolla Altis or i10 not sure, someone pl suggest to what extent the roads are motorable? any modification to the route is also welcome to avoid bad roads.

- Although you may want to drive on the Konkan highway, but the conditions are very bad.
- So is the condition from Karwar to Dandeli (Karwar-Kadra bypass-Anshi-Kumbarwada-Joida-Dandeli)

- Better option is the regular NH4 till Dharwad and then turn to Haliyal and proceed to Dandeli.

Instead of Konkan, you can take the NH206 (Tumkur-Shimoga-Sagar-Sirsi-Yellapur-BhagavathiHaliyal-Dandeli.

You have plenty of options for holiday spots.

- JLR Rivertern at Bhadra
- Stay around Sagar to have a look at Jog
- Stay around Sirsi to see Yana/Banavasi etc
- Banana County at Yellapur (visit Magaod falls, Jenukallu Gudda)
- JLR Dandeli.

- You can return by the 4L if needed as well.

Bumping into an old thread. Wanted to know the latest condition of the NH63 highway connecting Hubli to Hospet.

Also, whats the drive time required considering a departure time of 8 pm from Hubli towards Hospet.

Its very good as per last I know, but for the Hospet bypass which is horrible.
The overall road condition is good.

I think even the north section is bad till it hits the exit for NH13 towards North. You will get subjected to some section of the bypass before you enter the city.
