Thiruvananthapuram-Tiruchendur-Madurai-Rameshwaram

Ghat section is barely 25-30 kms from Tenmala to Puliyarai, the bottom before Schencottah, Not very steep anywhere and good roads for most part although at the turnings, there are some broken-up sections. At Tenmala - when coming from Schencottah, the road goes right towards Punalur/Kollam, and the left goes to Trivandrum.

I want to travel from Ramadhapuram to Kanyakumari next week. Which is the shortest and faster route, the ECR or through Madurai? If it is the ECR, what is the route? Can anyone help me please?

cLJ, please follow the route Ramanathapuram-Kizhakarai-Sikkal-Vembar-Tuticorin-Tiruchendur-Kanyakumari. Should take you 5-6 hours.

It didnt work out the first time. Two years later, planning again, leaves have been approved. Slightly different plan though. Attingal-Tiruchendur-Rameshwaram. Probably Thanjavur/Kumbakonam too. Which would be the fastest way to reach Tiruchendur, the Tenkashi route or the Nagercoil route, considering a morning start by 6 a.m.? I wish to reach Tiruchendur before the temple closes for noon.

I think its faster to go via Nagarcoil.

- You just need to beat the traffic till Nagarcoil
- You can totally bypass Kanyakumari
