Bangalore to Kanyakumari via Kerala route?

I am planning to ride down from Bangalore via the east coast down to Nagercoil and then back from there via the usual Madurai, Salem route. What would be the best route from Bangalore via Kerala to Nagercoil?

I have thought of Bangalore -> Salem -> Coimbatore -> Kochi -> Kollam -> Trivandrum -> Nagercoil. But looks like this is a long route? But won't mind taking this route if the roads are good. Or is there another route that might be a little shorter?

Also, would appreciate feedback on the latest weather reports along this route.

When returning, I will be doing the usual Madurai, Salem route so thats fine.

Re: Bangalore to Kanyakumari via Kerala route?

What you can do:

- Keep Dindigul/Madurai as the forking point.
- Either head to Kumily via Theni and then on to Kerala (NH49/NH220) (after forking at Dindigul from NH7)
- Or head to Tenkasi/Rajapalayam/Sriviliputtur from Madurai (NH208) and then enter Kerala.

By both ways you can reach Kollam.

The Kumily access will put you through Thekkady/Vagamon like places also.
The Rajapalayam access gives you Thenamala, a nice place to drive along the dam.

from my recent trip, this road is near empty and well laid, you might be able to save some time here.

Thanks for the updates Ampere and dadu!

Now, anyone with weather updates? My bike is having some problems so I have cancelled the trip in my mind but might just up and go suddenly. Help with weather updates?

Did you say bike?

Now I dont know what to say. I can only talk about the routes and places. I have never driven a bike in my life and that too on a highway! I guess others need to comment on your whole program. Folks who are more experienced on biking. (Not me for sure!)

Re: Route from Bangalore to Kanyakumari

Thanks ampere - no worries on the biking part of it - I have done the Bangalore - Nagercoil route before. Just wanted info on an alternate route and the weather

Nope, have still not started off. Mulling starting tomorrow - blame it on the sudden rains. Will update
