The first thing you should do is to ask your partner what she'd like to see

Ideally I would suggest Munnar-Aleppey backwaters-Kovalam comes to mind. You don't have much travel and would be places you can spend laid back as a newly married couple.

With 4-6 days in hand doing hours from travel will eat up into the time you can spend for yourselves.

I have a few basic thoughts in mind, as follows:

1. No Bangkok / Thailand / Singapore
2. Budget : ~ 3 - 3.5 for both including airfare.
3. Duration : 4 - 6 days of stay.
4. Not much of travel in the destination place.
5. Destination should be Scenic/Calm/Peaceful.

Dates that I am planning for is between Sep 27th, 2014 to Oct 5th, 2014.

I am on a very tight budget and have a very short time in hand.
This is increasing my confusion and playing with my unstable mind.

Please help me decide where should I take my wife..!!

I am thinking about Bali, Greece, Maldives - Sri Lanka.. All Confused..!!

Suggestion, ideas, destinations, hotels..??

Hi iamhunter,

I was in the same dilemma as you are last year. Got married in November last year and visited Greece for 10 days. Amazing destination but I not sure if it will fit in the 3-3.5 budget that you have. I might be wrong though. The visa process is seamless. Try contacting We are holidays ( Please google for the link). They can customize based on the budget. I used their services and found them to be pretty ethical . One suggestion, if visiting Greece and hopping to Santorini/Mykanos, do NOT take the ferry. Take flights instead. Ferries can take upto 8 hours one way.

Book early as the tickets tend to expensive at a later stage.

Best of Luck!!

Try a Brussels-Paris duo.
They're beautiful cities, lots to do, and with that budget, you could have some spending money left too after hotels and tickets.

Even if the flight costs a 1L in total, you can cover the tour in the remaining money and Europe is well worth it !!! Switz is relaxing, don't need any package tours you can plan it on your own(which adds a bit of fun i guess). You can visit Juangfraujoc , the tallest mountain in Switz or go in the famed Glacier express.

Been in the Swiss for the past 10 days now(Zurich and Bellinzona). Flight costs about 1-1.25. Easily one of the best places i've been. If you're looking for a quiet stay, there are lots of small towns where your can plan your stay. Took a train from Zurich to bellinzona and it was scenic all the way. Planning is not very difficult as most info is available online.

Re: International Honeymoon on a budget. Possible?

Hi All,

Some truly amazing suggestion came thru.

Saw all the hotels/ locations; Orange County, Tamara in Coorg; Himalayan Village.. BEAUTIFUL..!!

We both have been to Aleppy and Munnar in the past, individually.

After seeing so many awesome places in India, skipped the international holiday plan, for now.

Our Bucket list is ready.

For the Honeymoon, Andaman is Finalized.
As we would like to spend some time doing a few adventurous activities.

Going thru blogs for the hotel reservations and the activities planning.

Keep the suggestions coming.

Andamans means Barefoot, especially for the occasion at hand. http://www.barefoot-andaman.com/index.php

BTW do check weather conditions for the period of travel, you could be rained in. Then again that might not be a bad thing

You might want to check out this place : http://ixzire.com/ ; https://www.facebook.com/ixzire.portblair?fref=ts

The owner, Mr Bibhas Das, is also a car fanatic, and Team-BHP members get preferential treatment.

Re: International Honeymoon on a budget. Possible?

The flight tickets, to and fro, are confirmed.

Have inquired for the hotels, waiting for the replies.

Barefoot had rooms as per our plan, have asked them to block the same, but haven't yet received any reply.

Port Blair, searching for options which are near the ferry.

Is is advisable to book the ferry in advance, or can it be done after reaching there?

Tried for Barefoot, they had just one cottage pending on saturday. I mailed to block the room.
But unfortunately their reply came minutes later, just after I booked another resort.

Anyways.. Its waiting time now.
My GoPro and the new SLR Wide angle lense are ready.

Hey Guys, as I have already mentioned, I had finalized Andaman Islands.
We had 3 days in Havlock and 3 days in Port Blair.
It is truly beautiful.
Below are a few pics taken during this tour.

Re: International Honeymoon on a budget. Possible?

I love those pictures of the Andamans.
Amazing.
Makes me want to run away to the beach and sit there mooning about for a long while...lurk in a hammock, read a good book, laze in the sun...ahh!

Re: International Honeymoon on a budget. Possible?

Hi Guys,

Need help with suggestions for honeymoon places. I am planning to travel in November/December period this year.

I am not exactly on a strict budget but do not want to overspend - I am not sure what should be the budget allocation here

I was thinking of Greece but am not sure if the temperatures would be comfortable in the Nov-Dec period. Would you suggest any other European country which does get very cold during December and is beautiful?

I have considered Australia and New Zealand but I am looking for some other options. I am open to trying out some offbeat locations too!

Any advice/suggestion/tips would be appreciated!

You can easily manage Egypt or Istanbul for 5-6 days on a 2 lac budget. Plenty to see and plenty to do.
Includes airfare, hotel, sightseeing in a private car with driver and guide (Egypt) and a little basic shopping.
Your airfare from Bombay is likely to be quite cheap. Especially if you use Turkish Airlines or EgyptAir.
