Thanks. I guess I have no other option than to take the above route. Will keep our eyes open and report back after we return.

We took the Raichur route while going and took the brunt of criminal potholes all the way until hubli. Very bad sections between mehboob nagar and raichur and gadag. Potholes never really left us until Hubli. Took 13 and half to reach Ankola including a dinner break and a few 5 minutes pitstops. This is the worst possible route you can take now.

While returning we took HUBLI-BAGALKOT-GULBARGA-PARGI-SEDAM. Except for the stretch between Hubli and Bagalkot which is under construction, the entire stretch is buttery smooth. Took an hour longer, but had a pothole free ride all through. Can easily maintain triple digit speeds.

Best option would be : Hyderabad-Hubli-Ankola-Gokarna.

Now HYD-Hubli has multiple options. Best I think would be via Raichur.

Any update on the current road conditions from Hyderabad to Gokarna? Which route should be opted and how much does it take generally to reach Gokarna?

Budget for a 14-16 hour boring drive:) Roads are good to average till you reach Hubli.

You could break the travel into two days with a night stopover onwards at Hubli(11-12hour drive) and on your return leg at Bijapur (7-9hr drive)

Fern Residency Bijapur or Kyriad Bijapur.

Hubli has all kinds of hotels depending on your budget.
