Update fron Gwalior.

Partly cloudy and cool breeze. And, beautiful property - Deo Bagh Palace. Being run by Neemrana people. Leaving in another hour for Orchha en route Bhopal.

Coming to the navigation part. I took the below route yesterday - 25 June 2015.

Gurgaon Sector 39 - NH8 - Rao Tularam - Moti Bagh - Race course - India gate - Patiala house court - Matka Pir - Ring road - DND - YEW - exit Mathura - took the barrage route to connect to NH 2 - exited NH 2 towards Fatehpur Sikri (this is also referred as the Agra Outer Ring Road) - followed Agra Bypass Road and the NH.

Time to distance: 6.00 hours, includes 1 stop. Left at 3 pm from Gurgaon.
Stop: McDonalds - 30 minutes

Hathras Mathura exit to NH 2 took about 40 minutes. Cattle on the bridge / barrage slowed us down.

Otherwise, all good roads throughout.

Agra Outer Ring Road is terrific. Fully tarred. No potholes. Sparse traffic. Probably trucks will increase as one goes into night time.

There are about 3-4 railway crossings overall if you exit from YEW.

We got lucky. Not more than 10 minutes of total stoppage time at the railway crossings.

There seemed to be construction on the Chambal bridge. During day it could slow down traffic.

If you do it (Delhi-Gwalior) early morning probably one can save about 30 more minutes. No rash driving. One can comfortably maintain 90-110 kmph. Yes there are small towns on the highway but during day time you can also see far ahead.

Updated from a handheld.

An update on the Southern Agra Bypass on ToI, that's finally estimated to open in September 2016. See Google maps satellite view to trace its route.

If only they could extend the bypass on NH2 beyond Keetham across Yamuna and bring in as a entry exit onto Yamuna Express Way, it would help even better.

Most personal transportation has shifted to YEW and today there is absolutely nothing for folks on YEW to cross Agra but take the City route for going down south of the city ( toward Jhansi/Gwalior etc).

@traveller nayak
Why such roundabout route?
Gurgaon Sohna KMP expressway Hodal Mathura.....great connect. Saturday last started at 5am. Went at easy 70~80 and leisurely breakfast reached Agra in four and half hours including crossing Agra to reach Shilpgram. Return was another matter.
Three hours fifteen starting from Agra at 11pm including stop at Kosi for dinner. 😊

Edit : just saw the date on your post...

End of YEW Agra ring road is coming up which will take you to Taj side of town. From there you can get to Gwalior road.

The Keetham bypass is not likely and will only benefit YEW Jaipur traffic. Hopefully the ring will be extended to cover Fatehabad Gwalior quadrant also later.

There are two projects though closely connected. One is Agra ring and other is Agra Lucknow expressway. The latter takes off from mid way of former

Good to note. Was not aware of this.

Why only Jaipur traffic? Every one taking the Agra bypass for down south to Gwalor can get on to this (If the Agra bypass gets extended to YEW). In the current scenario, you will need to do a full Agra circle to get on to Gwalior road in the proposed ring road setup that you mentioned.
