Suggest a nice Getaway in & around Bangalore with a 1.25 yr old baby ?

Hello all,

Kindly Suggest a nice Getaway in & around Bangalore. We have a 15 month old baby and don't want to disturb her routine by too much. Some place nice, nearer to Bangalore where we can stay a couple of nights and she can have some fun too.

Most important: My baby can't survive only on infant food, so a kitchen is a must so we can also cook some meals for the baby when required.

Not very far from bangalore, as driving with a baby would be tough for both me and my wife. Nearest beach from Bangalore is still quite far off, but can plan accordingly if drive and stay options are good. Any resorts or farm houses are also fine.

Thanks
Samsan

samsan do check these threads here (Places around Bangalore (Detailed)) and here (Places to visit in and around the Mysore).

The closest beach to Bangalore is the East coast and its gonna be really warm and humid now. Traveling with a baby is gonna get even more cumbersome , instead drive to any of the places closeby and have a relaxed weekend.

I agree Ooty is a good option. Also if you want something shorter than probably Mysore. We did the Goa trip with our almost 1 year old daughter to celebrate her birthday there. and it took us around 11 1/2 hours to complete the journey from Pune to Goa. Driving at a relaxed place. Stopping for lunch etc. So if you want the beach, then GO GOA!

If you just want to stay at a resort and have fun, how about this Country Club resort in Tumkur ? Looks like a good place and it is only around 2-3 hours from Bangalore.

Country Club India Country Club Coconut Grove

There is also a resort from Confident group near Kolar on NH2 :

Chikamanglur or Kabini. Good places to visit before peak summers set in.

Well we did travel to Ooty with our 2yr old and it was pretty good as plenty of places to stopover and rest and eat between blore and ooty.

Heres a link to the pictures and TL.

Given the above requirement, I suggest look for a decent homestay around Chikkamagalur or Madikeri (Coorg)

I had traveled to Chikkamagalur and stayed at this place when my daughter was just 1 year old. We had no problem in telling the kitchen what to prepare for the kiddo.
Woodway Home Stay - Chikamagalur

Here is the link to the travelogue i had put up, to give a sense of the homestay

You may not have access to the kitchen, but given enough notice, they will prepare special food for the baby.

Instead of deciding where to go and then look for a place, I recommend the unconventional approach of looking for homestays at both these places and then pick the one that suits you the most.

Cheers

Try Yelagiri. Its around 150kms only from bangalore.
since its your baby's 1st trip,Don't strain her much.
Start with short trips and see how comfortable she is and then go for long distance trips.
Ooty also seems to be a nice option.

Re: Suggest a nice Getaway in & around Bangalore with a 1.25 yr old baby ?

samsan02, my wife and I did our first roadtrip with baby to Yercaud and it was quite lovely. About 3-4 hours of leisurely drive on good roads and a nice cool climate at the end of it. Plus no shortage of good hotels: we went without a booking on a Republic Day long weekend and still managed to get decent acco. Highly recommended!

Hi,
Samsan
I would suggest you to Princess Hills- Kodaikanal.
The distance may be little longer but the roads are good & you have many towns in between in case of emergency.
At this time of the year ideal weather conditions.
You can stay @ Villa Retreat resort, where food for your Kid won't be a problem.
regards
Sree

@sree70: Kodai is too long a drive with a baby first time.

Whatever you choose avoid beaches as it will be hot and babies can get badly affected by severe heat.cool environs are best. Kodai a long drive and ruled out. Yelagiri will be hot too now. Yercaud, Coorg and Chikkamagalur are better options. Ooty will be atleast seven hour drive with breaks . Stay in good homestays which will be helpful.

Re: Suggest a nice Getaway in & around Bangalore with a 1.25 yr old baby ?

After reading your thread, we ended up with a very spontaneous trip to Goa.
It was fantastic, Baby had a great time at the beach too.
It took us 8 hours to reach this time including a stop to eat.
There are some great deals at hotels too as this is mid season. If going after the 15th of April you can get better rates. It was hot, but not unbearably so. Remember to drink plenty of fluids and take two sippers for Baby, one with water and the other with juice.
Drive Safe!
