What am I missing from my South India Travel List

Friend,
I bought Safari just a month back and now raring to go on long trips now. Checked the "52 Weekend from Bangalore" and found that most of them had been covered earlier either by public transport or by my old faithful Alto. In short most of the well known touristy places have been covered and I am here to look for suggestions on lesser known places.

Some places already covered:

- Karnataka: Mysore, Coorg, Cauvery banks at Bheemeshwari, Galibore, Mekadatu, Hoganekkal, Sivanasamudram, BR hills, Chikkamagalur, Jog falls, Bisle, Dharmashthala, Murudeshwara, Mangalore, Kudremukh.

Karnataka TODOs in in the Winter: Gokarna, Hampi.

- Kerela: Cochin, Wayanad, Munnar, Periyar, Alleppey, Calicut, Trivendrum, Kovalam, Kannur and the surrounding beaches.

- Kerala TODOs: Dont know.. Need your suggestions.

- Tamilnadu: Ooty, Kodaikanal, Chennai, Madurai, Pondicherry(Thats almost TN), Mahabalipuram, important places along the ECR from Pondichery to Rameshwaram, Kanyakumari, yelagiri hills, yercaud.

- TN TODOs: Dont know.. need your suggestions.

Andhra Pradesh:Not been to any place in Andhra.

Need suggestions from you on offbeat places or lesser known places which are less known and not yet on my list.

Thanks,
JP

Thanks Punter..
Belur, Halebidu, Shravanabelagola, Hampi being the hot places, have been marked for Winters.

Tirupathi: I am not a religious person.. would give it a pass.

Let me check what is there in Kanipakam, Sri Kalahasti, Mantralayam.

Re: What am I missing from my South India Travel List

You've missed a very easily accesible place; Anantapur. It takes as less as 3 hours to reach, and you have quite a few places to check out; several old structures & temples at Penukonda, Lepakshi, many ancient marvels of architecture in Tadipatri (again, ancient temples), the old Belum caves, Pennahobilam (a waterfall kinda place; went y'day, almost no water, not worth going in summer, I'd gone last time shortly after the monsoons, and it was overflowing with water), Aluru Kona (a waterfall at tadipatri), you might want to visit Dharmavaram, Timmamma marrimavu, a huge banyan tree that covers 5 acres :shockk, one or two dmans & forts. The temples I've mentioned are more of architectural importance, rather than religious; that's why I haven't cared to mention Puttaparthi.

It is getting a little hot in Anantapur this summer, but you'll get the feeling of being in "the wild west".
If you ever come here to Anantapur, let me know, we can meet, and I can offer you whatever little assistance I can.(Provided I'm not needed at Bangalore)

One more place I could suggest is Nellore; it has lots and lots of places to see, and places to trek. It may not have the hype of Mysore and such places, but it is in no way inferior. Will let you know of the major places of importance in Nellore if you're interest.

These 2 are all I can recall for now.

All are religious places, so you can give them all a miss . I am not a religious person either , but my wife is, so I visit all these places mostly for the drives and admiring the architecture.
