Suggest me, Esteem vxi, Hyundai Accent GLE/GLS or Corsa 1.4/1.6

Hi Friends,
I want to go for a use mid size car. We already own a Maruti 800.
I am confused between Esteem vxi and Hyundai Accent GLE/GLS.
The model I am looking for is between 2001 to 2004 for both the cars.
My budget for the car is 3.5L to 4.0L. The car should perform well with minimum maintenance cost. Should be comfortable to drive and spacious for 5 people. Mileage should be at least 11+ in city limits with AC on. My usage will be not more than 600KM per month.

I will upgrade with a new car after another 6 to 7 year.

Please suggest me between the two or any other within my budget.

Thanks

you are planning to keep this car for another 6-7 years ...the accent production has been stopped ...also teh esteem wont be around for 6-7 years ...so buy something that would remain in production at that time..
and in your budget ,except the swift and the getz ..i dont see anything else remaining in production ...why dont you look at a used getz ...

Go for a used Baleno. It'll fit your budget/ FE requirements and you'll not regret your decision 6-7 years later...

With your budget, you can also take a look at other cars as well, namely
Baleno, Lancer, perhaps even a OHC 1.5 - all are comfy to drive and have good performance, seat 5 better, and give as good as or much better FE than esteem and accent.

Yes, try out the Baleno, Lancer, OHC - three nice cars. The Baleno returns a decent 12kmpl in city with A/c. I have no idea about the FE of Lancer and OHC. The Accent gives around 10kmpl and the Esteem will return 12-13kmpl.

Infact if you stretch your budget from 4L to a little more, I guess a new base model Esteem should be within reach. ie. if you like the new look. There are rumours (but not really substantiated) around that it will be phased out soon. But then spares etc should not be a problem for one of the oldest serving sedans, atleast for the next 6-7 years.

And it perfectly meets all the requirements you listed - midsize, performance, low maintenance, comfy to drive, good FE etc. I personally feel that anyday, it is better to go for a new car, than a used one.

Frankly, I have no idea about the Baleno's maintenance costs because mine is just 1 year old and the only maintenance done were the 1st and 2nd free services. 1st service had oil + filter change which cost 600. No oil/filter change in 2nd service and thus totally free.
I have been using Maruti cars for 20 years now and if past experience is an indication, maintenance costs should be minimal.

Was it a LXi or VXi .. For a VXi, maybe 4.25 should be ok .. but probably Baleno prices in Bangalore are higher.

Brand new Esteem VXis are available at 5 L OTR at Kolkata. You could check out the prices of a new Esteem LXi/VXi at Bangalore. Since you'll keep the car for 6/7 years, it's better to stretch a bit and buy new.

It was a VXi shuvc. I am not interested to go for a new one. Esteem onroad in Bangalore will be more than 5.4L. that's for sure.

I am sorry. I am the wrong person to ask about 2nd hand car prices because I have absolutely no idea or experience in the same - I prefer buying cars new and keeping them for life without selling them.
I would advice you to check with mclaren1885 or v1p3r who are also from B'lore and experts in this. Also, a few weeks ago, they were looking for a used Baleno and must have a pretty good idea about prices. You could maybe PM them.

Willy,

"comfortable for 5 people".....both esteem and accent wont serve this requirement. Baleno/NHC will fit the bill

FE : esteem/accent/baleno will all be good (NHC will be great)

I will upgrade with a new car after another 6 to 7 year.
NHC will have the longest trouble free life....

So pick your choice Baleno or NHC.
