Devarshi.the drive by wire system is only for the diesel variant and not the petrol ones. The petrol variants pretty much have a cable link between the accelerator pedal and Fuel injection pump, which regulates the quantity of fuel that is supplied to the engine.
This is how drive by wire works in the diesel -

"In the case of the Palio Diesel we use an Accelerator Pedal Potentiometer. Driver inputs at the accelerator pedal position are converted into an electrical voltage signal and sent to the ECU by a potentiometer connected to the accelerator pedal. Thus the accelerator pedal inputs are processed together with other vital inputs from sensors which measure other critical parameters to provide precise injection timing and pressure. "So essentially, there is no cable link between accelerator and fuel injection pump.
And the clutch is a hydraulic clutch, which is pretty much common to most cars and the only gripe of the older palios (2001-early2002) was that the clutch pedal was a bit too hard for city driving. This problem had been rectified in later models and neither of my palios (2003-1.2 and 2003 1.6 S10) have this problem.sadly, most of the palios were sold in 2001 and 2002 so most of them have this hard clutch issue.
