Tyres help in giving grip while braking, cornenring, acceleration. ABS helps prevention of locking up of wheels, so by putting wider tyres all braking concerns dont get addressed.

I realize that, ABS is useful in snow or rain etc in providing anti-lock etc. However I have GIII rubber on my Swift and to be honest never in braking have I felt scared. Its SPOT ON!!! Of course if I goto hill station in snow etc, abs would help, but in most normal city driving good tyres with disc brakes are decent enough!!!
