Thanks guys for those replies especially iraghava for the checklist and Viper for the help extended to checkout the car personally.

Touchwood !! feel proud to be a part of this forum with so much of support from all you guys.

Have given a final offer of 4.0 L and awaiting the outcome.

btw saw a end Dec 04 ( almost Jan 05) Baleno Vx in scratchless condition at another dealer done 28,000 kms asking price for which is 4.0 L ...have given him an offer 3.6 L as well.

Given the same price range, the Baleno is almost 2 years younger than the Vtec...just wondering which car to finalise incase something materialises.

If you think you're gonna sulk looking at a vtec after gettin a baleno, then get the vtec, and vice versa.

Hey all,

Since this thread is relevant, i m not opening up another thread for a similar query. what is the right price to pay for a 2003 honda 1.5 EXI (100BHP), driven about 17k kms, golden colour, in good hands and in good condition? a friend owns it and may plan to sell it off. he might be looking for about 5.5 lacs.

Also can I repaint the colour to something else? If so what would it cost me to do so?

Please give your opinions!

Hi,

I was quoted a price of 4.25L for a similar car by the same dealer where i saw the vtec in Mumbai . The 1.5 EXi was in spotless condition , had nice 6 spoke aura alloys and had done 21,000 kms.

Nothing more than 4L at the most since you know the car well & it is in good condition. You get NHC's nowadays in good condition for 4.5-5L so no chance of selling the 1.5 for 5.5L despite it's cult status nowadays.

A very good, factory quality repaint job (like mine) would cost you anywhere around 30-40k depending on how much denting work there is. A slightly lower standard job can also be gotten done for anywhere between 15-25k.

I know of atleast 2 cars, both Vtecs, with full service history, going for 4.5 lakhs. This is in BLR, so there's no way your friend is going to get 5.5 for an Exi.

Man, get the Vtec, it can really surprise you if you are that kind of a driver. On the other hand, if you are a sedate driver, get the baleno.

Neither would i. The Baleno is one superb peace of machinery which has better torque then the OHC Vtec and has a FTD factor too. Vtec is a Vtec butttttttt Baleno is not far behind

That is not to say that the baleno is for sedate drivers, the wagon r & santro are. But between the two(MB & Vtec), i do see a lot of common folks buying the baleno because it is a maruti & not for its power. Under these circumstances, wouldn't you ?
