Teaser ads have started coming for the New Maruti Baleno

As for Fusion, If you don't want GM due to A.S.S. is Ford A.S.S. better than GM A.S.S

Also from your latest post, your wife does not need/want an AUTO. The car is for her, but you want an Auto. So get Auto out of your head. Is she on TBHP? If she finds out you are satisfying your fantasy via her purchase, you may get the lead foot anyways
We can wait 30 days. It will give my wife a chance to drive the CVT a few times too. My wife has not really driven an Auto and realised it's benefits in City traffic. I intend to take her out for a few spins in my mom's CVT before we decide.

Who do you think convinced my brother to buy the CVT. Once they bought one they bought 7; and my mom got hers after testing both the CVT and VTEC. The convience of the CVT in city traffic outweighed the pep of the Vtec.

I hear Shaman's A.S.S is not bad (Monkey has had good expereince) but you are right why take chances. Hyundai, Maruti and Honda are the only consistent performers on this front. Verna, Swift (maybe new Baleno) and the City are then the only options.

BTW any ideas what the new Baleno will look like. The present one is too long (my wife drove one and was not comfrotable) besides being dated (like the Esteem).

No my wife is not a member here. I've asked her to be one but she thinks all of us are mad. She has nothing against the City except it's size. Unfortunately the numbers dont lie. The City is 520mm (almost 21") longer than the Sail. I suspect she will resist the Verna on the same grounds. I really wish they (Hyundai, Mariti, Honda) had a peppy hatchback that was 4" (100mm) longer than the Swift with an Autobox (so far the Fusion comes closest to satisfing these requirements).

Would the Fabia be an option ? Or is it's launch too far away to consider ?

Aveo 1.6? Big, roomy, safe, fast (kind of), cheaper GM parts these days + tightened A.S.S make the ownership comparable to Maruti.

Or the Optra 1.6. Same qualities, bigger.

NHC - the only one to have an auto in that category.

Corolla - good allrounder and easy to drive with the auto.

It looks like you'll need to compromise between car choice and the NHC due to the auto

Navin - Have you looked at the Fiat Palio Adventure? Great car, lots of people seem to REALLY like it on the forum.

From this thread it appears that now we started discarding some cars simply because they don't come with auto option! Future for AT looks bright in India

from your second list ill pick city>fusion>swift in that order. trust me city is a very easy car to drive, except for its blind spots (which one gets used to easily)

and do wait for new baleno and take the plunge

Geez many moons ago my mom wanted the Fabia vRS and got fed up with waiting for them to lauch it. then I saw her doing 80 in a Matiz and put paid to those plans. Yes the Fabia is an option but like I said before my wife wants her car THIS century.

Yes given urban traffic conditions I have no qualms driving an auto box myself.

I know the City and it's CVT well :-) read previous posts.

This seems to be shaping up to be a City v/s SX4 (Baleno) choice with the Verna as a long shot. The Fusion looses out on A.S.S.

Like I said before if the City was 200-250mm shorter it would have been a no-brainer.
