Shouldn't Safari Dicor LX be also included in the Title?

Thanks each and every one of you.

Did not yet check out the safari dicor[have driven the TCIC one earlier], but rahul prices have gone up since you bought it and ex-showroom itelf in bangalore is about 7.25L while think its around 7.15 in Pune.Anyways will try my best at bargaining with the dealer. However as of now the safari seems a little off budget and may just have to stick with either off the three in the title.

Like the rest even I personally did test drive the logan, and me too did not like it in the fact that it really is not worth the 7.25 odd OTR price. The boot space in the logan is very good and there is space for seating three comfortably at the back but I dont know why , I was feeling like I was driving the Maruti alto on the test drive.

We tend to assume that a diesel vehicle is the solution to all FE concerns.
That is a fantastic point raised,If the SX4 gives decent mileage on the highways there is actually not going to be much of a difference in fuel bills between the suv's and the sx4.Waiting for the bangy boys updates on the sx4 mileage especially on highways.

The NHC may actually compete with the scorpio and the safari if you consider fuel bills only but for my budget can get only the bare-boned [atleast in comparison to the sx4 zxi ] and hence have left out the NHC.

Rahul, assuming the SUV brigade return about 12-14 kmpl on the highway, while the SX4 may return about 18-20 kmpl on the highway, the difference in cost per litre of petrol and diesel is still a significant amount.

IMO, if both you and dad love the SUV feel, now is the time to go for it.

Rahul,

Scorpio!!!!:) my vote is for scorpio crde ,Its great looking SUV ppl just move out ur way in traffic .Great ac i mean powerful .Innova tavera .... all looks more like a van than a SUV .Only prob is with leg space @ the rear .

I Own one so just go for it.

Scorpio is good but I am bit disappointed with its leg room and body roll..

Otherwise its great SUV!

Safari and Innova are better choice than Scorpio.

Ravi.

Safari LX DICOR costs less than scorpio DX.
You can get 20,000 discount if you bargain hard.
Also take into account interest rates, Tata motorfinance is on a low interest spree and you can get fairly low rates for everything now.

This offer from Tata Motor Fin must be for next 2-3 days only. A good option can be Financers who go upto 7 yrs. Some banks do.

My father is getting financing from his employer itself for the vehicle and the interest rates are much much lower than the market rates so interest rates not much of a bother.

Now with regards to the car buying one major problem has crept up against the suv's, My mother is aging and she does not find it easy getting in and out due to their raised stance. However she is willing to overlook that for our love of suv's,but I think it would be very selfish on our part.

Coming to the sx4, as I have pointed out earlier and a many more bhpians even though the sx4 looks huge does not really feel spacious inside in the back seat.Seating three comfortably is a problem and plus legroom not really that good. There in comes the NHC, feels more spacious but have to shell out so much more[in comparison to the zxi sx4].

But could somebody answer these questions please:
1>. How is the NHC as a highway car[we are not that bothered about performance, max speed we do is about 110 kmph],does the NHC give you a feeling of being planted to the roads[stability],Also on bad roads how is the NHC?
2>. Compared to the gxi ,for the exi can most features of gxi be addable in an accessories shop ? [will do it at a later stage as and when cash permits if possible]

I have not finalised or rejected any car yet, however the list stand as:

Maruti sx4[zxi] Vs Scorpio W crde[base] Vs Ford Fiesta 1.4 Tdci[exi] Vs Tata Safari Dicor[lx] VS New Honda city [exi]

@ Rahul - All the cars which you have listed only the SX4 is the top model, why settle for less, go in for a SX4 man. It does give you the SUV feeling with high GC and has all the gizmos, which indeed are quite helpful.

The NHC feels breathless on the highway, IMHO.

Not too bad, quite comfortable but lacks sheer grunt for overtaking. Especially when fully loaded. Wouldn't be a problem if you don't run too much at high speeds.

Yes almost all features are installable at a good shop and would turn out to be much, much cheaper for you.

One question... how long do you plan to keep this vehicle? Is resale value a factor in your decision?
Among the vehicles you have listed, Scorpio and NHC should do very well. SX4 is new and should also do good. Fiesta is not very good and Safari is known to depreciate very quickly...

When was the last time you went hunting for a Used safari.. Its just a rumor that the safari has a low resale value.. I have seen crap vehicles of 99 model "Sold" for 3.2L.. This was 6 months back when i tried every dealer in Bangalore looking for a Used safari.. months of hunting for a Safari but i could not find any. Frustrated of the fact i bought a Brand new Dicor. A safari hits the used car market and is sold in matter of Hours.

Back to main topic.. Go for the SX4 instead of the NHC.

Godfather

Had the opportunity of test driving the NHC and the fiesta diesel today and specifically tested it on the highways mainly.

First the fiesta[not giving a detailed review since both cars have been well documented on team-bhp,just a few pointers]
I absolutely loved the refinement of the diesel engine, had good space[though I felt less than the nhc backseat] and air conditioning was excellent[better than NHC].The car was rock solid and took bad roads in its stride well.I had just one problem with the car,the clutch it felt very hard much harder than most diesels I have tried and felt it was a strain on my leg.The clutch stood out as a black mark on the car.

Next the NHC,I had never driven this before and only heard this is a joy to drive in the city, and boy it is.The car is amazingly maneuverable and could but some small cars to shame. So easy to parallel park[which i had to in the honda showroom].This is a car you must definitely try if you are mainly into city driving, since I do not speed much more than 110kmph never felt the need for more power. However in the highway it was just ok,it did not appear rock solid and also not really good at handling bad roads.

Dont know if it is the sx4 effect but discounts are available on the NHC as well as the fiesta diesel now.

Rahul, when i test drove the TDCi Fiesta, i had the same observations regarding the clutch, which the salesman attributed to the 30K kms on the odo and it being a demo vehicle. I finally left it at that.

Arif_t01 (hope i got it right) has a TDCi and i guess he would be a better person to let us know.

The number of Safari's are not a huge number that you are going to find them readily available in the second hand market. You can check any second hand dealer and they say that TATA vehicles in general have a lower resale value due to some of the known problems.
