Optra vgis pertol for ~7.2L : Is it worth??

Hi All,

Since Optra petrol is phased out, One dealer is having 2 Optras base model
left. He is offering me a discount of 1.5L, making it at ~7.2L OTR in delhi.

I almost decided to go for aveo1.4LS. But this offer is tempting for Optra.
I need inputs on the following:
1. I need your views - Is it worth going for Optra. aveo1.4LS I am getting for
6.3L OTR with Delhi reg.
2. FE of the Optra. I heared its <10. Can some Optra owners provide their
inputs.

thanx,
gava.

Optra Petrol 1.6 phased out ?? Did the dealer say that ? This is news - and I'm not too convinced. Please check other dealers too.

It could be a normal discount (I'm not aware of the discounts in Delhi). If not, there could be something not right about those cars.

If the cars are OK, I would surely have chosen the Optra over the Aveo.

I have checked with other dealers. Actually other dealers dont have Optra pertol to sale. This dealer too have only 2 cars.

New model of Optra petrol will be relaunched after magnum (dsl) launch.

I am concerned with its FE. <10 is pathetic.

Optra Magnum in Petrol will be launched very soon may be in couple of weeks. That should be the reason why dealers giving discounts. Make sure its not test drive car, check it fully and decide.

Petrol 1.6 optra FE is around 9kmpl in city with AC and on highway its around 13kmpl with Ac. This is what I heard in Bangalore.

Its very nice car for comforts, build quality, but its not driver's car its too boring to drive according to many owners.

Since Optra Magnum is introudced expect but less resale value for current Optra. But I feel deal of 1.5 lac discount is good one. Bargain on extended warranty or get their free 3 years service scheme or similar to that offer apart from 1.5 lac cash discount.

To Maintain its costlier than NHC but it depends on how we maintain the car and some luck.

Often, very often I find this as a blanket statement.

1.5 lakh discount is great value for money, try squeezing the maximum out of the dealer.

HAve driven 70 k km + already on my 1.6 optra. Still has never given a FE of less than 9kmpl and usually averages 10- 10.5kmpl with ac always on and majority city driving.

Also my model is before they tweaked the gear ratios in 2005 for better efficiency so you safely expect 10+ kmpl at the least.

I think you get the 100k km warranty standard now.

Also must go for the service holiday package and try to get that merged in the deal.

Let me know if you have any other queries about the car.

Good Luck

FE figures are very discouraging. Also you have a valid point. It may be a TD car.
I think I should better go with aveo1.4LS only.

Test drive the car which that delaer is selling you and check it fully and decide, Optra is really good car also Aveo, The one you like you buy. I prefer Optra over Aveo any day if deal is good one on Optra. It has good space and very comfort ride.

About FE what I mean is in city conditons at least 9 you can extract which is good for 1.6 engine.

Regards,

Ravi.

Be also wary about the extremely low resale value of the optra....there is a 2006 Optra done 15000 kms going for 5.25 L available at a dealer in Mumbai

9 kmpl good for a 1.6 ???? By Jove, the Ford Fiesta 1.6 gives around 11 kmpl any day and my Toyota Corolla 1.8 gives me a comfy 11.5 - 12 (mixed driving conditions, 70% city and 30% highway with AC always on). 9kmpl does fall into the "Bad FE" for a 1.6 if you ask me !!

Hey gava.. The Optra 1.6 is a very very good car & amongst the most spacious. FE should be around 9 in city and 11 on highways but then it really is a Big Car. You can squeeze another 10 - 15k from the dealer I suppose.

Also go through a couple of other threads in long term ownership reports and then decide for yrself if you want to go ahead and get this car. Cheers.
