Honda City (New shape)

Want to buy a honda city (new shape) cannot afford to buy a first hand one now because I have invested some money elsewhere so guess will have to settle down for a second hand one,

My max budget is 5.5 lakhs and I dont wanna buy a hatchback especialy swift

could some of the owners shed some light about the mileage and the maintanance costs?

Help required please!

higher maintanence just because its a honda?
Well, my dad owns a new honda city, and i have the old one. Neither of us have faced any exceptionally high maintenance costs. And going by some of the reports here of other honda owners, regular servicing is all thats required and that too is not heavy on the pocket.

Having said all that, when going for a second hand vehicle, one has to very carefully investigate that particular vehicle, no matter what the logo at the back says.

yeah well i agree but if you have to replace a front bumper or anything else it will cost a bomb.

Hmmm... i have never had to replace the front bumper, so you may be right, although its not exactly "maintenance". how much does it cost compared to other cars?

The NHC (in my opinion) is one of the most hassle free cars i have owned. Mileage i get is in the 12-14 kmpl range (depends on traffic condition etc) in city with ac on all the time.

While the service experience has not been great enough for superlatives, its not been bad either.

Let me put it this way.....this car does not "float any boats" in terms of excitement / fun to drive part, but there is one word which certainly describes it....PRACTICAL.

i have three nhc in the family and they all only require routine service which not much that 1k at the max

but when a the cars suffer some damage you will have to shell out big bucks

two of our nhc had an accident
one car had a bill of 1.30 lacs and the other 1.05 lacs

Both the aspects quoted above are perfectly taken care of by the NHC. There is no better used car in that region to beat this on these points.

those must be major accidents Manik.

IMHO the NHC is not costly to maintain plus the mileage is Excellent.!

the first accident of the black one was not serious

the maruti guy scrapped the whole side cut the metal on the doors so had to get the door changed and the whole side painted

and the other car had the accident when i hit a rickshaw accidently
the link to the page you judge and tell if it serious or not but that to shell out 1.05 lacs

knight, the honda is cheap to maintain. if you wanna know more, read ajmat's (mod) review under long term reports and you ll know what i mean. he has a break up of all servicing costs till date. and you would perhaps get a 2005 model honda for that price of 5.5 lacs and most likely it will be the old shape (run about 10-15kkms) if its new shape, it would have done more number of kms on the odo.

good luck. its worth the investment if the car is maintained well and not rough used. i started off with an old nhc for 6 lacs (which is no more for sale, alas!) and ended up with swift Vdi.

i dont know why but i dont want a honda. ouch thats a lot of cash for the repairs you mentioned.

@Manikjeet - has your can been repaired yet we would like to see a report on the repairs done to your car, and couple of photos as well.

@Knightrider - you have deep pockets go for it, otherwise stick to the swift you wont regret it.

If you still arnt happy with the selections search for threads like
what car at 5.5 lakh budget or just post a new thread. i am sure everyone will pitch in with their tags and what to veto.

Cheers
Shab
