Aveo 1.6 / Verna XXi / City Vtec / Cedia Spirit / SX4

Its my 2nd thread on the forum and also its time for my 2nd car.
Offcourse there is no better place for all advice / suggestion and expert comments.

I tried searching but could not found much on Aveo 1.6.
So this may be repeat
Mods: If thread already exists, then please merge or help me with similar thread.

I am going for company car and the budget is between 7-8L (Ex-showroom w/o octroi) and rest all will be paid by company as its company registration.
I get additional benefit of; 30% depreciation on EMI + non-taxable EMI.

I have short listed following options (reverse order in my preference)

1. City VTech
2. Verna XXi
3. SX4 Zxi
4. Cedia Spirit
5. Aveo 1.6 Option pack

and the reasons:

City Vtech (8.1L Ex-showroom w/o Octroi) :
This is discussed everywhere in the forum, car is really pleasure to drive.
 • Way to expensive considering top variant doesn’t even have ABS & Airbags. I feel its required for this segment cars.
 • Missing Climate control
 • Even Discounts are limited to 15-30K
 • No dealer / service network in Eastern suburb of Mumbai (which is where I stay)
 • Service is not the best in market.
Verna xxi (7.23L Ex-showroom w/o Octroi) :
 • Not really convinced with the looks; specially the front.
 • Its has Climate control; only car in this segment other than SX4
 • But doesn’t have Airbags, that’s a disappointing
 • Discounts are just about 10K
 • I own Santro and very much satisfied with ASSS, but above all doesn’t convince me completely with Verna.
SX4 ZXi (6.91L Ex Showroom w/o Octroi)
This is discussed at length….but here are my observations
 • It is no doubt VFM, but the fit and finish is not upto the mark for this segment. Interiors are no better than Swift.
 • Discounts are almost zero
Cedia Spirit (8.6L Ex-showroom w/o Octroi):
This is actually my first preference and really want to gab this, but…..
 • Price is above my budget
 • Discounts are about 30K. I wish; if it had come with Corolla discounts of 60K-1L
 • There is only 1 dealer which is in south Mumbai; so service is going to be pain.
Aveo 1.6 Op pack (7.22L Ex-showroom w/o Octroi):
So I am down to this…..Really impressed with the car and in general with GM.
 • Best VFM after SX4 in my opinion
 • Has everything except Climate control (and steering control of SX4)
 • really Peppy car
 • Discounts are about 40-50K
 • Nearby dealer network
But I have really not seen many reviews / fans for Aveo 1.6. Owners, please share your experience.
So here are my options....what do you all guys feel?

For Aveo 1.6 (option pack), please read my review - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-t...-6300-kms.html

If you need more specific information, PM me, I will be able to clarify.

My suggestion: I suggest Aveo LT with option pack since you need safety features. I feel climate control is not worth its just luxury thing and once you are used to AC you will know what to adjust. Aveo is car which has already gone improvements since its launch and its good car with less price and best quality inside. Its nice looker too.

If you can live with fit and finish/interior quality/looks/not tried and tested yet in India and need ABS/airbad/climate control go with SX4 with full heart, its good car no doubt for that price. Has big waiting period as of now.

TD and decide between Aveo and SX4 both are good cars one or other way.

Regards,

Ravi.

If the SX4/Cedia fit in you budget do give them a serious thought both are good cars but in the Cedia resale will suffer, big time.

Cedia Sports Review...

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-t...km-report.html

Expect the Spirit to be very similar sans the body kit. Frankly as a car, its a no contest. Its the best hands down.

The Cedia is much more of a car than the other ones. They are merely hatchbacks made to look like sedans.
Have you driven these cars? I suggest you take a test drive, that will help you make up your mind.

you have not mentioned your preferences but

1. City VTech- good car with good brand value and resale. dealers are usually good but spares expensive. the old vtec charm is missing but FE will be good.
2. Verna XXi- top end has climate control and is certainly a boon if you know about it. I would recommend the diesel on top of everything. Even diesel comes with a climate control and hyundai really makes some of the best diesel cars in India.
3. SX4 Zxi - An excellent car on its own is big on features however its performance falls short by a hair margin in most departments. Its a maruti over and over and hence expect the best in market resale and good sales and service. Also expect to forget which car is yours in a parking lot. :P
4. Cedia Spirit- last gen car that is picking up steam slowly by word of mouth. Interiors built to last but loose out on kit to others. climate control is a sore amiss. rear seat is not comfortable for tall people. Otherwise the best fun to drive car you can get for your money.
5. Aveo 1.6 Option pack- GM doesnt know how to make fun to drive cars. Interiors are a bit radical but that experience will be shortlived.

from the above I would suggest verna diesel and if its not on the list then look at sx4.

other choices

look at ford fiesta. Its one of the best mid-sizers I have seen recently. 1.6 is extremely fun to drive and diesel is etremely frugal and economical. gets my vote.

It would be between the SX4 and the Cedia, the others just don't match up. Between the two, heart will always say Cedia, but head and pocket may pick the SX4.

I would shortlist Chevy Optra and Mitsu Cedia!

Test drive these 2 cars and then decide!

The most sensible suggestion, i guess. Heart says Cedia, but head says SX4 ZXi.

I guess Sx4 is the best option available currently.

Aveo 1.6 option pack is also quite good. I've been using Aveo from last 10 months & done more than 9K KMs, with absolutely no issues. GM also has worked on to improve the gear-shift (for me, it was never a problem), AC & interiors. So, it is even more a better car now.

I would suggest go for SX4 (almost same features of Aveo + 16" wheels + True Maruthi Value ). If not, go for Aveo 1.6 option pack, without any hesitation.
