Have asked Topsel Toyota for a TD. They are yet to get back with date and time:Frustrati

SX4 is fairly okay as a driver's car. Cornering is okay since it has a healthy understeer. Also the zip that people got in Baleno's SOHC engine is gone, its now a more linear acceleration. So to get the best out of this engine, try the 2-5Krpms.

Its not good as a 5 seater. Clutch position is not good, the right side blind spot is a worry. Otherwise, as an owner I am really happy I made the choice.

Update. Still waiting for a call from the Toyota dealer. Guess they are selling so many cars they don't even have time to give TDs.
Drove the AT Grand Vitara today. Man she rocks! Driving impressions here

and here http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/new-in...ra-driven.html

Also drove the Magnum. But the GV td had left me quite excited. Couldn't feel a thing about the Magnum. Plus, the ac was not working on the demo car and it was HOT today. Will take another td next week.

go for the Octy vRS ! No substitute for that machine !!

After two weeks of waiting for a Corolla TD, finally got a call from the Toyota dealer. The conversation went on like this
Toyota: Sir, how did you like the Corolla?
Me: Huh? What Corolla?
T: Well sir, we gave you a TD of the car.
Me: When was that? Have been waiting for about two weeks for a TD. You are the first Toyota person I'm talking to after asking for the TD.
T: I think you are mistaken. You've taken the TD last week, its in our records.
Me: Is that so? (didn't know what to say. Hung up after that.):Frustrati
Still trying to figure out what I've been drinking and smoking since last week.

So, Toyota is obviously out. The SX4 interior felt a bit cramped. Grand Vitara is not worth 15L and neither is the Skoda Laura Elegance. Looks like I'm stuck with the Optra Magnum and parents' favorite, the Civic.

@ Vishesh - i already have the vRS' lower trim variant, the TPi Rider.

You want to give up on a promising car just because some nut fudged an entry at a dealer showroom? The guy who called you up was just a follow up guy. Would not know anything. I think you should talk to the marketing manager of Topsel Toyota. Ask him point blank whats going on. Tell him if he can send you a TD car its fine else you would rather look elsewhere. See how quickly the TD car arrives thereafter.

By the way, you seem to have come out of your GV hangover of the last week. ;)

Remove the fake wood inserts from the magnum interiors and go for it.. lol
anyway, corolla is not a bad proposition either, great VFM, bulleproof reliability and very good performance... decide jaldi.. :-)

i guess this thing is getting interesting.

i have enjoyed reding the entire thread, its more like a serial rather than a thread for WHAT CAR? :p.

But seriuosly I was in a similar situation in the feb.,http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/what-c...onphushun.html
i can understand the frustration, finally zeroing in one INDIGO XL, after having lot of discussion with Zappo on the phone........ just rear legroom being the point!!!. And ultimately dropped the plan of buying a car this year.

I agree 100%. Just because somebody (quite low in the hierarchy at the dealership) of Topsel has goofed up, I don't think you should give up on the Corolla. New model next year or not, all versions of corollas have been good for the past thirty years.

hey shuvd,
why didnt you consider the sonata embera, i think the petrol will come into your budget and its a hyundai as well.

embera has a very good rear seat comfort as well, which your parents will like the most.

At 13 Lakjs ex-showroom, it will be in your budget. I am talking about the petrol variant. I think the FE would be same as the Accord, but priced lesser than the accord with more interior space. Pay another 60k, you can also think about the Auto tranny.

I dont know how the embera is doing in the sales, but I think its a VFM product keeping the hyundai's A$$.

raj.

I think the car has been decided already.. its the civic.. lets hear it from the to be owner..lol

Another one bitten by the Civic bug. Good choice though. :)

huh! civic is it? i guess this must have been selectively disclosed by the to-be-owner at today's meet. and must be uncle's decision rather than shuvd's? haa haaa haaaa... shuvd, your view and say on this please? :D

kkr2k2, must agree with you. embera is a highly understated car. however it is really vfm product when you look at the car it targets/tries to target. and on top of that i think it is one of those rare hyundais that really looks good, probably because it is primarily targetted at the western market.

Absolutely. The first hyundai to really look like a car (i mean good) was the getz & now the sonata embera & the verna too. :)
