Selling off my Esteem, what other car to buy in a 3L budget?

We have a 4 yr old Esteem VX in Delhi which we use whenever me or anyone from my family visits Delhi. The car is used sparingly -- hardly 400 Kms/Month on an average. Lately the car has started demanding maintenance and we are of the opinion that probably its time to dispose off this vehicle and buy another vehicle which will last us another couple of years.
The main points to consider are --
1) Need to buy only a 2nd hand car and not a new one as the car will not be used a lot.
2) Budget ~3L.
3) Needs to have ample boot space as we do not travel light .
4) Need a low maintenance vehicle and given that we do not travel a lot i think Diesel will not be advisable.
5) Delhi heat is a killer, the car definitely needs to have a very effective AC.
Given the above parameters can you help me zero in on the make and model of the vehicle to target. Also can you point me to good dealers of used cars in and around Delhi.

Thanks.

Any chances of you considering an Esteem again ? If yes, you can talk to true value guys for a good exchange bargain

Did you consider the fact that getting everything fixed in the existing car might end up being cheaper than spending money and buying another used car? You might as well keep the existing car for a year or so, increase your budget and then buy a new car instead of used.

Hello, Looking at yr budget I can only suggest you Accent / NHC - new honda city - former being a good car / low on mantainance, latter being more expensive option as NHC would not cost less than 4.5 - 5L..

That leaves you with only Accent ( if you like it that is ) . Other options Like OHC - old honda city / IKON - these will be expensive to mantain.

You need a Big boot - and these are the only cars I could think of.

Try going to New and Used Cars: Find a new or used car, truck or SUV from over 1,000,000 cars for sale on AutoMart.com , Buy, Sell New & Used Cars in India Online – Free Dealer Price Quote & Reviews on Latest Car Models at Carazoo – India’s Largest Automobile Body Shopping Directory

They have good deals in Delhi.

Somehow i am not very happy with the Esteem. Leaving aside the engine the car is very fragile.

Any chance of getting a Baleno in this range? With the launch of the SX4 not sure of Baleno's resale nowadays.

This mode where the car is on standby mostly and sparingly used will continue for atleast 2-3 more years. Also given the short visits to Delhi, i do not want to squeeze time to take the car to the workshop every now and then hence contemplating changing the vehicle.

Get the Accent, the engine is literally bulletproof and Hyundai service is great.
Baleno is also a good option but finding one could be tougher than the accent.

Just remember that the guy from whom you are going to buy your new (second hand) car will be selling it for precisely same reason as you are selling yours!!!

xbox, look around for used OHC's. Plentiful around and even the 1.3 has sufficient power. I think it suits your needs the best.

If you dont mind Hatchbacks, 2nd hand Getz is the way to go. Has ample boot space as well.
Otherwise, make your choice between used OHC/Indigo/Ikon 1.3.

OHC would be a good idea but that would mean atleast a 4 year old car or more ! i think baleno could be a good bet....

An ideal upgrade from esteem would be the OHC. Find a good one.

I would suggets a Baleno from true value in exchange for your esteem. THough it might be difficult to get one (that too in good condition) i think you could get one if you extend your budget by 50K. And i would say, it worth buying that car.
