The thing with the Elantra is that it seems effortless cruising at speeds in excess of 200kmph. To top it all it has the best ABS system I have come across in cars compared on this thread. Diesel warrants less fuel expenditure, coupled with pretty efficient Hyundai A.S.S. I suggest everyone to read Tadukuttan's long term report on the Elantra. It perhaps is the MOST under rated car in the under side of 10L ever sold in India. It has a brilliant engine, handles well, AC is brilliant, comes bundled with all the safety features. What more could one ask for?
Availability . It was my first choice initially but Hyundai decided to stop making the model loaded with all those features. Also it can only do 200+ after Pete's box. Else according to specs the top speed is 190.

Cedia looks like should be choice for you, especially since your uncle has a delearship unless you are looking at the mileage point of view.

Another point to note about the elantra - The non option pack CRDi doesn't have Airbags, Passenger presence detect, Seatbelt pretensioners and climate control. So only the fully loaded leather model makes sense.

Not even abroad? The Lancer had it, except in India. It's the only blot on the Cedia's otherwise excellent Indian resume.

Which means you can retrofit it into the Indian Cedia.

the new elantra is also scheduled for launch in '08 right?? would you have any idea about the price tag on it?? an approx. estimate maybe...

and i read an article in the paper today, which says cars are going to cost 8%more and 2-wheelers 4%, in some time, the govt. has levied yet another cess!! morons!! they say its cause they need to improve their public transport system!!

The 2008 elantra won't be less than 11 or so considering verna sells for close to 9 lacs. Hyundai has messed up its pricing of late.
