I second that.
When 97% of its owners say they'd like to buy the car again, you know you're talking about an excellent vehicle.

Friend

Second hand Skoda??

Enough has been written in this forum about the issues with the vehicle after 3 yrs, cost of spares, and the hopeless level of service... more than 80 % of the people polled said never again to skoda... YES I am talking about fellow Team BHPians... I will try and post the link..

Elantra CRDI's has sold enough numbers since launch - yet one rarely finds them in the resale market... Has it struck anyone that this may be because teh owners are REALLY HAPPY WITH THE CAR?? The same's tru for Accent CRDI's too.. At least there is no argument there ont eh popularity of that model - they continue to be rare in the resale market and the ones that do get sold command high prices. But EVERY reseller I have been to I seen has a Skoda in his garage!!

All the Best!

Sujit

IT has to be the elantra for the following reasons:

Modern tech compared to the Octy

Better ASS

Higher eqipment levels now at a much lower price (10L OTR!!)

greater power and torque

more rear leg room

The only plus poits that the Octy has are better build, looks and slightly better FE

Had I been in your position, I would have explored the option of getting a new Elantra CRDi .. At current price levels it would probably cost the same as a 2 year old Skoda.

The maintenance cost of second hand Octy would be too heavy to bear for an second hand buyer. In that case Elantra would be better choice.

Help in choosing Elantra crdi or skoda

Hi everyone,

I am buying a car in a week or two.Could anyone help me in deciding between elantra crdi or Skoda 1.9tdi,

For Skoda
How is the servicing in Skoda ,..i mean cost for paid service.
How abt maintaince.
Is it true that mileage in city is 13kmpl for skoda.

For Elantra Crdi.

Any one having elantra Crdi can u tell me your opinion abt the car.
How abt the mileage in Crdi.

IF anyone can help in deciding it would be great.

Skoda TDi is meant for people who loves driving and Elantra is meant for people loves to be driven!

Skoda TDi can give 13kmpl only if driven hard in city else u'll not get anything less than 14+kmpl !!!

Elantra CRDi's economy is nothing to boast about, but still it is quite a good deal considering its price and good quality stuff it comes pre-loaded with.

regarding service, i guess, Hyundai is better and Skoda's spares are quite expensive. but let respective owners speak up on this issue.

Tips for skoda

Ive got a skoda... its 2 1/2 years old now... 50K on the odo...

Repairs ive experienced:

1) Battery went bust after 3 months of buying it... particular batch of Skodas had this problem but covered under warranty...

2) My car is due for a tyre change...

3) Havnt had any major repairs except for the rear brake light...

Pros:

1) I get about 14Kmpl in city, then again depends on the your driving habits... as long as you keep it under 2000Rpm... get about 17Km on the highway & upto 20+ if you do a constant 80Kmph...

2) Highspeed stability is amazing (Feels rock solid even at 165kmph) & so is braking...

3) The boot is massive can fit anything and everything...

4) Amazing ride...

5) Solid build quality... i still feel my car is new...

Cons:

1) Pathetic rear seats... Not good for long drives

2) Little bit of body roll... you will hate it if you want corner it hard... But there is a Knack in doing that... if you get it right its amazing...

3) Service is bangalore is not upto the mark... too many Skodas and too little place in the service center(Tafe access)

4) Going out of production in 2010.

Except for the rear seat comfort this car is soo perfect...

I even had a look at elantra but octy 1.9Tdi is more frugal... Elantra high speed stability is bad... But Awesome warranty and Service...

If you are planning on buying a Skoda buy the base model its definately worth the price... (Rider)

If anyone wants to know how to drive a skoda 1.9Tdi hard just buZZ me ill give you some tips

Hey Mr.Rage,

How much does the paid service cost for your skoda, after the free free service offered by skoda.

Also How is legroom compared to elantra both in front and rear seats

Have a Skoda for the last year and a half.
LOVE THE CAR TO DEATH.. build quality is FANTASTIC.. though I don't see why people complain about the rear seat.. Agreed its no armchair.. but it's no prison bench either.. its firm, upright, and pretty good.
Go for the Skoda dude.. YOU WONT REGRET IT!

Hey Super_700,

Service is around 3500-5500Rs and sometimes a lil more depends if you need to change your brake pads, My brake pads dont last more coZ i drive hard...

One more thing spares are a lil on the expensive side... i dont really know the leg room but i suggest you sit in both the cars and compare... elantra should be better...

anything else?

while skoda is all about Quality and style. Elantra is all about VFM and comfort.

Both are equally good and replacement for both have arrived (Not in India yet) making them previous gen cars.
