yes abhilash, the decision is made. the choice was between a stock verna crdi and a SX$ that would be modified to run on LPG, the unanimous opinion has been against any adventures with the hapless SX4, though most people didnt actually egg me on to buy the verna.

Thanks all for the advice, looks like i avoided a costly mistake
