sx4 is basically a sedan made for suv lovers,it has almost all the advantages of an suv, like some of you have mentioned it is the poormans civic so for those who want a civic but cannot afford it should go for the sx4as it has ALMOSTall features of civic, i heard someone saying that civic sales have fallen because of sx4 please correct me if i heard wrong

@anachronix, drive by wire always provide only linear responses irrespective of how much you press your pedal, as the ECU computes the urgency and only does precise metering of fuel (this is how i understand it. An expert may be able to give a more technical answer).
As for the Aveo, the package is very rich looking alright. Interiors are great. The ride is quite soft. The car is well suited for a stately city drive. The car does not like aggressive driving(again my opinion). THe highways are not its place. The sx4 is the highway runner. The highway is were the SX4's ride excels. Drive over a 1 foot wide pot hole at 80 or 90 in an SX4 and in an aveo. you will know what i mean. Sx4 will not even give you much of a thud let alone a jolt. Cant say the same about aveo.
As for your ride from AMbur(are we getting too close here to Bangalore in the swift, well, i dont speak for the swift much myself.

Handling - Fiesta
Comfort - Verna
Fuel Economy - City
Interior Styling - Aveo
A.S.S - SX4
Value for Money - City or SX4
Looks - Depends. I prefer Fiesta

another great thing of sx4 is its height ,well many people hate this, but as a owner i love it and many other owners too take this as a benefit plus the sx4(zxi) looks like a expensive car with those great alloys. One day when i was at the traffic signal in my sx4 a skoda laura came side by side and it never looked like the sx4 was a 7-8 lac car but looked in the same class of laura,i know many of you will want to kick my butt for saying this but fact is fact.

The wonderful thing about the height is that my heads the roof when seated in the rear seat. And I'm only 6'1" .

Did someone realize, the originator of this post after his original post has never appeared on this thread

So why are we still continuing this meaningless discussion. I think mods should close this thread.

I am Aveo 1.6 owner, and I wouldn't recommed anyone. SX4 was not in the market when I bought Aveo, now I am seriously thinking about SX4.

I'm a Proud Owner of a Ford Fiesta 1.4 Duratec ZXI Petrol model bought on sept 2007...I'd rather say that this is really the car to own provided you drive and you love to drive...I have a family of 2 men/2 women and a child and even space is at a premium for a family like me...

I see lot of people here fault the fiesta without owning it...The Build is so
good and at corners....oh man you'll really want to do more...The power is
also more than enough for Indian roads and put a proper seat cover and
you'll feel you are at the top of the world in comfort.

It's only because the car being so spirited to drive, some people always
pull it to the limit which results in problems which may happen for any car but not all cars have the pep in it for you to pull it to the limits...If India is a self owned drivers market rather than a Chaffeur driven market, I'll swear Fiesta will be the top seller in its segment.

agbenny---may I ask why? I always thought the Aveo was a good car.

srinivasr79--I agree with you. But the only thing missing is airbags, even on the top-end Fiesta sxi.

Although Ford is not in your list. I would suggest go for Ford Fiest 1.6. I personally have driven all the cars mentioned by you and found no match that can be compared with Fiesta. Its really a car to go Fida !

Why, agbenny, you wouldn't recommend Aveo?

Any serious issues with the aveo 1.6-benny.SX4 has a good package and VFM features. Its a good buy in total. The only area IMO were city scores over SX4 is fuel efficiency.that too 2 - 3 km pl.I dont think that would make a huge increase in the total ownership costs comparing the spares costs of honda and suzuki.
My vote for SX4

I own SX4 ZXi for last one and half years and can tell you that it’s an absolute fun to drive. Recently I was pleasantly surprised to get call from the dealer from where I had bought my car. It was an invite to some treasure hunt and performance drive event where all the SX4 owners could come and participate. Well…quite an awesome way to spend the weekend. Needless to say I agreed and participated. It began with a treasure hunt. We were briefed to reach to the final destination correctly with the help of cues given to us at each stop. The route was superb. It wasn’t only a smooth tarred road but included rough patches, water and slush. I was overjoyed as these are the conditions when SX4 performs the best. No matter how rough the terrain, SX4 clears almost every stone or boulder that’s there in the way and it’s big and wide tyres never lose the grip no matter what they went on. Thus mud, slush were welcome. The heavy rains added to the fun. Though I was lost a couple of times as I misjudged the cues but who cares…I was there for the fun and I had loads of it. Finally I made it to the final destination and was glad that wasn’t the last one to reach there..

The final stop was Synthite Grounds in Panagand which was set up like a rally track and to our surprise we were introduced to Lohit Urs, the current MRF driver and former National Champion. It was a privilege to see him performing on the track with the SX4…. I also got the chance to interact with the champion and even drove a few laps with him (wow!).

There are no words to describe the power-packed performance that was on display…uploading a few pics for all of you to see and enjoy!!
