That's nice if you think you can increase your budget.
1) Verna
2) Fiesta
3) Optra Magnum (Diesel)

TD both of them and decide.

Swift Diesel - If you dont need boot.
Logan - If you need boot and have a strict budget of 5 - 6 lacs
Fiesta - If you can afford FORD legendary Spares Costs but it will cost 7.5L+ otr.
Verna - If you want more power + Hyundai *** is better as you have 3 dealers in Chandigarh. But it is not a good handler at high speeds.

Getz CRDi - Last i checked there are no test cars available.

Overall i would say swift fits the budget well if you dont need a boot and its Suzuki so no need to worry much about A.S.S. But please do test drive all the cars before buying as lot of people have rear and side visibility problems in swift.

16 KMPL highway sounds too low for a diesel car....Petrol gives samilar FE on highway.

I think I remember reading somewhere in forum, Fusion TDCi gives 15 in city, so highway should probably be 20.

You've mentioned that you would not be selling your car for the next five years...

So, I'd recommend you to buy a car with good build quality...

If you need that boot and have that extra buck, go for either the Ford Fiesta or the Verna (if you need to add 'performance' to your wish list...)

If you do not need the boot and can afford that extra buck, I'd suggest you the Getz CRDi. Nice build, very spacious and practical, and more than 100 horses to make it run like hoot...

Happy Buying!!!

If comfort and boot space is not a priority for you, Swift diesel would be the best choice. The engine is excellent.....

My Advise - Go for getz CRDi
Getz CRDi- The waiting period would be 3 months just for a TD!

If you can wait till Feb 2008, the Palio is coming with the 1.3 Multijet engine. I feel that would be the best choice followed by swift diesel. Anyways both will have the same engine....

Getz 1.5 or Verna

your budget is 6L.If you can extend it go ahead with Verna which is one of the best diesel sedans in its segment.Hyudai has good good service network too.Logan to would be good except that I personnaly don't like its looks. If space, comfort, mileage & budget are your factors go head with Getz 1.5 CRDI.Its loaded with the Verna engine and you can imagine the power it would have. The price is 5.8L and the vehicle has loads of space and practicality

Appx costs: Swift VDi 5.5L, Getz 6L, Fiesta 7.75L & Verna 8L. Ask yourself if you really need a boot then decide between a verna or fiesta. Verna is good on highways while fiesta good in city; A$$ would be better for Verna.

If possible to wait for 2~3 months, then you can buy a Palio 1.3MJD for 4.5L (same engine as of Swift diesel).

I get 20-23 on the highway for my Fiesta TDCi !! and 14-15 in the city.

But i would say, wait for the Auto Expo on Jan 10 and then decide.
