Note the RS turbo / ambinete 1.8 TPI is a dying breed. We will not see any more performance cars under 20 L for a while.

RS Turbo - suspension is already uprated. You need to spend 50k or so on braces and rear ARB + 25k on tyres. If used, add another 15k for powerflex bushes to take up the slack. Add 240 bhp upgrade and you are there!

My recco - used RS if not new ambient

Thank you all for putting your thoughts.

I intend to keep the car for about 4-5 yrs so was thinking of buying the new one instead of the used, not sure if the used would be a good idea to go for and whether it would be trouble free for that long.

Did the 1.8 TPI Rider comes with ABS and disc brakes at rear?
Spoke to the sales guy and told him that their offer of 3 yrs maintenance wont be of any great use to me and pushing him for further more discounts on it. Said would talk to their senior manager and get back.
I was thinking since am only paying 2.5 L extra over the ambient with all the added features it makes sense.

What are the things to check when looking out for a used Rider 1.8T?
It's kinda difficult to get a RS in the used market but am sure there will be handful of Rider model available.

Thanks once again,
Abhishek.

.
It does - it would be grossly irresponsible of Skoda not to, with all that power!

Check:

1: Impact damage
2: brakes condition - if worn - don't run away - negotiate into price and upgrade
3: cam belt change if 45-50k covered
4: Engine firing ok
5: Suspension wear

Looks like I beat you to the last great used RS in Mumbai. I got mine with only 15000 on the clock!

If possible, can you share the price at which you bought the RS?

Go with your heart. The RS is a better option anyday.
Low Profile TYres and many more differences . You will love it. Even I am going for RS soon

Invinsible - On my way from Pune to Mumbai this morning while passing Vashi , I glanced at JMD Auto on the way and they happen to have a red vRS for sale , got to office and called them, its an 05 model done 36km , single owner asking 8.21 lacs apparently with full service history..

Just in case you are interested in a used vRS..

Buy the RS, keep it stock (it has enough grunt for any road in India) and put your money in buying some good shares. The stock market has come down quite a bit and in 3 years time your investment could yield you a nice return. You quickly get used to the bells and whistles in the RS and enjoy them. And since Skoda has discontinued it, it could become a collectors item.

I'd advice u to go for the RS version. It has a lot of bells and whistles not present in the ambient version. Also, its one of the last of a dying breed of hero cars in india!
