Budget 7lac On-Road. Only 3 box design.

I had been looking for a pre-owned car but none came up to the standards i was looking for. So ive decided to go in for a new car.
My budget is 7lac Onroad Mumbai. Has to be a car with a boot. No Hatchbacks. No diesels as everyday driving is going to be hardly 5 to 6 kms.
So what options do i have????

Check if the Accent petrol is still available. It was going for 4.99 lakhs ex showroom. It would be good VFM.

Suman, the person has made his requirement very clear. I think that we should suggest something within 7 lacs.

Considering the overall package, I would suggest Aveo.

The man drives an Ikon - do you think he'd find the Aveo interesting? Just my opinion.

Dan, i would stand by what suman has suggested. The Fiesta 1.6 is the car which would be the worthy successor to the Ikon 1.6.

What happens to the Ikon now? Sold?

SX4,Hyundai Accent,NHC exi,Chevy Optra are some of the choices i would prefer in that budget of 7-8L(if you can stretch 1L here and there).. man we dont have many choices of good cars

I second that, and now ZXi is available with 1.6L engine, it will fit your budget too.

if you were satisfied with your ikon and fords aftersales service then go for ford fiesta1.6 its a amazing car to drive you wont regret it.. aveo is also a very good option and it is more value for money than fiesta.. aveo is more comfortable, better looking, low ownership cost, better quality, better ride but fiesta is a better car to drive infact it is the best in the c segment right now.. sx4 is also good but it has poor quality interiors and low mileage.. and then there is the verna petrol also it is also good but nothing special about it.. and then the honda city if you want a car for city driving there is no better car it is smooth, reliable, comfortable, good mileage, good resale, very untiring car but it loses out on brakes and safety features and it lacks build quality and steering is very light..

If you are not bothered about a diesel i suggest go for SX4 vxi or a dzire(if you love the looks though)ZXI.SX4 is more up market and bigger.VXI has all the required features like 4-door Power windows,Power steering, etc. But Dzire has more value to the money spend at the expense of size and image.

For 7l i guess SX4 Vxi is the Best Buy !! If you dont have much highway driving then give a look at NHC too. Heard there is good discount on NHC by few Honda Dealers.

danlalan - any other requirements you have out of the car ? that would make the choice easier..

u never know - some used car option might throw up which u never considered..

so apart from non diesel, boot - is there any other requirement ?

Danlanan,

Since you are open to pre-owned, I suggest sticking it out in the market for some more time. A used RS, Corolla or Cedia are realistic opportunities for your 7 lac budget. At the most, you'd have to stretch a couple of thousand more. Someone reported a red RS for sale in some new bombay showroom only recently.
